Hello All,

I am a new 'poster'. I got 350 Z before Xmas, 53 plate...but the handling is not so good.

It feels twitchy and not smooth, it has me on edge all the time.! :?:

i've read other posts and they are suggest looking at the alignment and possibly getting wheels balanced...! What does four wheel alignment actually do.....that 2 wheel alignmnet (tracking ) doesn't fix as you cant adjust the back wheels. Pardon my ignorance if I'v got the principles wrong.

As an aside, I'm living in Rugby so Covs just down the road...i read someone suggesting to use
Wyndon Motors Keresley Ltd, Sandpits Lane, Coventry for four wheel alignment. Has any one used them and have commments on price and quality of work, i.e. do they know what to do with a 350 Z...

Thanks

Ross

Welcome Ross

Tracking/allignment is very important on the Zed :?: Make sure it's done with the right equipment (somebody else will have specific info).

Also, what tyres are you running, as this will have a bearing on the handling too :?:

Ross
Was i that posted about Wyndon Motors.
Although i have not had any personal experiance of them a work colleague has and they were a reasonable price and quick and tidy about things.
I have no idea of anyone else in this area, but i am sure there wil be some over in the Rugby area too.

hi,

thanks for reply,...i am running brand new BP re40's. The main dealer I bought the Z from put them on! I read that MPS are better but i cant justify 600 pounds to swap them...but they car should still handle better than this in the dry with any decent tyre.

New Bridgestones should be fine, check the pressures (35psi all round), check that they have been fitted correctly (correct rotation), check 245/45 rear and 225/45 front (This might seem silly but dealers/fitters have been known to make mistakes before :?: ) best to check

If the car still feels 'twitchy' have the 4 wheel laser allignment done (this makes sure all the camber/caster toe out/in is correct etc)

let us know how you get on :?:

Ross.
Alot of discussions on the best and worst tyres for the beast here.
The BP re040's are not a bad tyre in general. There have been some issues on feathering etc, but not to many cars. Yep MPS have been are also listed as being very good.
I have a mixture of BP on the front and Avon ZZ3 on the back. No issues to date as, like you i am a bit tight when it comes to replacing something that is generally ok.
I'm sure if you get it aligned correctly most of the poblems will go away. However, on very heavily cambred roads and i have a few over here in Coventry, it does track a lot.
Hope it works out.
PS. Have you been in Rugby long?
Did most of my growing up there at school in the early 80's :?:
Oh. Welcome.
