We were sorry to hear of a major incident during testing of the RJN Motorsport 350Z
RJN Motorsport driver Chris Sanders is however expected to make a full recovery after being injured in a heavy crash during testing at Silverstone.
Chris Sanders, a new driver on the RJN team, was due to race alongside Alex Buncombe in the team's Nissan 350Z in the GT4 European Cup this season, was airlifted to hospital following the incident. The 350Z left the track at high-speed following accidental contact with the BTCC Honda Integra of Mike Jordan.
Sanders suffered a fracture to a bone in his neck. He is currently fitted with a support halo and is expected to make a full recovery. Meanwhile the team will now start work on building a new car ahead of the start of the 2008 season.
The accident happened at Woodcote corner when Chris was touched at the rear of the 350Z by Mike Jordan in his Honda. The 350Z turned sharp left and hit the concrete wall on the outside of the circuit very hard at about 115 mph. The car then hit the wall again 50 metres further down the track on the right hand rear which did extensive damage also and the car is no longer usable.
The Silverstone accident rescue team and paramedics did a fantastic job in getting Chris out of the car and into the air ambulance.
