Just some of the fun I had at the Anglesey Track day with the SOC.

Running with GordonGTR - Big Boppa.

Vid 1.

Some fun with Seb.

Vid 2.

If you like the look of Anglesey for a Track Day let me know. As me and the SOC will be going back next year :dummy:

Anglesea looks like a good circuit. I might have to join you next year if the timing's right!

I have some vids on youtube, but none in the Zed alas:

Brands GP in the Exige

Spa in the Exige vid 1

Spa in the Exige vid 2

Silverstone GP in the Exige

The Exige went last year to make way for an ex-race Radical SR3, which is a proper track weapon!! :D

Spa in the Radical SR3

It's a bit tricky to get a feel for the speed of the Rad in that video due to the lack of traffic. It is seriously, seriously quick though. Earlier in the day I sailed past a Lotus 2-11 like it was standing still, and I'm no Lewis Hamilton!! :P

Hoping to get a late-season track day in this year in the Zed. I've compiled a spreadsheet of weekend trackdays in the South & South Midlands (i.e. reasonable commutable distance from me!!) which I plan to post up next week to see if there's any interest. I'll be going to one of them whether there's interest or not (fingers crossed)!

In the meantime my dad and I will be competing at the Brighton Speed Trials next weekend (I realise this clashes with The National - hence my non-attendance). If anyone's going to the speed trials rather than the national and you buy a paddock pass come over and say hello - we'll be in the blue GT40 replica no. 51 and 52 (same car), about halfway along the paddock on the beach side. :dummy:

Hey

Just wondering what cameras people are using, where I can get one, how much and how to attach it to a Zed?

Cheers

H

Newish kit,
PDR100 solid state recorder.
Sony 520TVL Bullet camera.
External Stereo Mic.

Old kit,
JVC Camcorder.

and some different mounting toys.

I'm thinking of getting a PIP Box (picture in picture), another cam to run with it and the update for the PDR100. The update is a G-Force meter.
But I can't justify the £600 ish it will cost at the mo.

Nitpicking on spelling aside :-) I will be considering just such a system for the 1st time as this year will be my 1st season trying some track days (after 1 or more CAT training days). But I have no clue on what's needed, how it all works etc

Has anyone done a guide on what's needed, how to fit it, best edit tools etc?

If not then could you (Smoky) start a thread somewhere in the track day area on this????

I will forgive your nutpicking on this occasion  I am still learning how to create these videos and was not paying full attention if I am honest.

I am also still finding the best way to film on trackdays as I go along, I used to mount my DV camcorder on a suction mount but it was hard to get a decent angle and it also fell off a few times :)

My current kit is a Sony DV camcorder with a bullet camera from sport-cam. In the footage from Oulton I have the bullet can mounted in the grill and the mic inside the cabin, I did try the mic in the engine bay but there was too much wind noise so i need to try and sort that with some sort of sock or similar. I also can mount the bullet cam on a suction mount on the windscreen which does give quite a 'drivers eye' view.

The downside to the DV cams is the time it takes to transfer the footage as it loads in real time, the quality can be very good though and if you already have a DV cam with an AV in feature then it is your cheapest option.
