Looks like very good news of zeds registered before March 23 2006, they'll be in the new K band which means a maximum VED of £245 upto 2011!
For post march 2006 zeds it looks like the rise has been delayed a year, I'm not 100% sure of the details, the wording is confusing:
"As a result of these reforms to graduated VED, no driver in any given band will pay more than £5 extra in 2009. In 2010-11, when more significant rate changes are introduced, a majority of drivers will either pay less or the same as in 2009."

Mind you, £190 saving on VED is small change compared to recent depreciation.

As for the return of the rise in fuel duty, however, alas that's less in the way of good news.
But perhaps off topic.

'07 Mazda MX-5 1.8 Option Pack: "14 out of 5", the Umbrella.

ive had an ongoing issue with them because according to their website a Z registered before 23/03/06 should be in tax bracket F and not G which is what they charged me last year and want to charge me this year.

However you should check your V5 as it should say what band you are in on that. If it's band F on you're V5 you should write to them and claim last years overpayment back.
Some further info, after 1st april it will reduce as below:

Therefore it doesnt really matter if you get 6 or 12 months, as your rates will not be getting any lower.
The "good news" that I first mentioned is for zeds registered before 23 march 2006. They currently pay £210 for 12 months, and this is only going up to £245 and not £440+.
