Just in case this is of interest and feasible - we have a training event taking place at Ingliston near Edinburgh on Sunday 5th April for the MLR (Evo owners). This is to give the Scottish & Northern Members an opportunity for driver training, if travelling to Millbrook is too far. The MLR are happy for other members from car clubs we work with to join in if they are interested.

Please post here if you'd like to know more and I'll put the information in the thread.

Kind regards
Jo

Sounds good Jo,

Right on my door step to, so geographically could not be much better.

Continually locking horns with the EVO guys at Knockhill so this should be fun.

Please post up the info.

Hopefully a few of the other local guys will jump at this as well.

Cheers,

Alex.

Here's the overview for the day:

"Building on the success of last year's Driver Training events we are developing the programme to bring beneficial experiences to other areas of the country. The first area to benefit is the North, although wherever you are based you will be very welcome at this training course if the date and distance allows!

The venue chosen which will provide excellent facilities and the high standards expected is the Royal Highland Centre, Ingliston, Edinburgh.

The first training event for 2009 will be the Performance Driver “Circuit Skills” Day on Sunday 5th April 2009. The day will be for a group of 10. Arrival time will be 08:30 with finish time 17:30 hours.

Performance Driver “Circuit Skills” Day
An action-packed day run by CAT Driver Training Ltd at Ingliston, Edinburgh.

The day is a fast moving experience for 10 owners and their cars to introduce the secrets of circuit performance driving. It is designed to be informative, exciting and fun. The group size is purposefully kept small so that the maximum can be obtained from the day in a highly personalised environment.

Members will receive tuition in the following disciplines:

Cornering
Single input steering
Minimal input
Chassis Platform Balance
Systematic approach to Cornering

15 Cone Slalom
Platform Balance
Understeer
Oversteer
Throttle Balance
Grip Limit Signals

Dissecting the Corner
Slow in Fast Out
J Turn/Hairpin
Steady Gas

Double Lane Change
Platform Balance
Where to Look
Steady Gas
Understeer
Oversteer

Braking
ABS
ABS Brake and Avoid
Threshold
Pedal Exit

Vehicle Dynamics
Short presentations in vehicle dynamics will help you to understand the relationship between driver input and vehicle balance and control. From this comes the appreciation of how to safely drive your vehicle at ‘grip limit’ within the controlled confines of a track environment.

Gymkhana
At the end of the day, your new found skills can be put to the test in a timed ‘shoot out’ around a gymkhana-style course.

Included in the day are:

• Professional in car tuition
• Lunch and refreshments during the day
• Timed end of day ‘shoot out’ with prizes
• 1 ¼-½ hours driving time with your personal instructor

The discounted price for MLR Members £340 per person, and for non-Members £380 per person.

Payment will need to be paid in full by 5th March 2009 directly to CAT at the very latest (Payment can be made by bank transfer, cheque or debit and credit cards. The latter attract merchant fees currently of 1.85% of the value – from 1st March 1.94%). A non-refundable deposit of £150 can be made now to reserve your place if this is easier for you, with the balance paid by the 5th March. Note: this day is for a maximum of ten people. "

Let me know asap if you are interested - the MLR Member price will apply to nissansportz members :drive1

Thanks

Just as well Stew ... there wasn't enough interest on this one but the next one on 11th July is fully subscribed now - if it's close to you do come along and say :)

This will be the first so if all goes well then yes, we'll look to extend to the other clubs we work with (including the lovely people at nissansportz :)).

Watch this space :)
