Hi Guys!

I'm planning on putting together a pilot for a TV show, to find girls like me who have never raced fast cars before (except for my Nissan track day, as I'd never raced before then and was too scared to go over 30mph!!!), to train them to race to professional standard. The idea is really to transform someone from timid to raunchy but seriously professional race driver.

It is currently in it's creative infancy, so will need good feedback from guys on whether you would be interested to see cool girls racing.

Do you think it would work? Do you think it would alienate guys from the race market? Do you like to watch gorgeous girls in fast cars? ;)

Any contenders/contributers/sponsors? :#1:

Thanks and look forward to your comments, ideas, suggestions etc? :type:

Yes it would work. No it would not alienate guys (look at Sabine).

It can't fail! ;)

It sounds like there is something already along those lines so I suggest you either speak to them and take them over from the inside, or find a niche yourself

All, I've moderated this post to try and keep it on topic. The concept is in an early stage but a serious question was raised.

I would normally PM each of you but since there were so many I thought I'd just post this ;)

If anyone wants to PM me then feel free. There is a section for banter --> here <--

I thank you

Ok then staying on topic.................I really don't see the point in such a proposition - there are loads of progs based on this formula out there ;)
And TBH - really not sure what difference 'gorgeous girls' who don't know how to drive could possibly do to help combat the bimbo image that is propelled by parts of the motoring community onto women. I personally think that women who accept that image would be better off staying in the promo world.

Totally valid point. Seriously - raunchy and gorgeous is not a great way to describe women who are serious about cars and motorsport. There's plenty of that about the scene handing out leaflets and posing on the cars. That's fine, but the best place for it. The idea is a great one but it puts a bit of a sleazy edge on it the way its put over which maybe wasn't the intention. Just my view. Each to their own and all that.

ok, on topic. tbh it just comes across as a bit sleazy to me. is there any real need to turn girls from normal sane ladies to raunchy love themselves bonnet drapes. i love a girl who has a passion for motoring and motorsports but i dont think she needs to blindly throw her body out there pouting all over the place. surely there is more merit for a woman to make it in motorsports by her own racing talent not by flaunting herself to the male contingent. the ladies from fifth gear and top gear were drivers first, tv second, they do it for the love of thier sport not attention.

so no i dont think its a good idea as it just degrades women in motorsport when so many try so hard to be taken seriously.

I couldnt agree more.
I did my race licence at silverstone, I was always the only girl in the group but its not about whether you're male or female its if you make the grade.
This sort of approach goes against what most women in this field believe in.
Sorry to put a downer on your idea.

Danica Patrick (http://www.danicaracing.com/) is a very gorgeous race driver who drives as good as she looks...sorry if it's upset you girls, but the intention is to reach a wide audience and not alienate either male or female car enthusiasts. All in all, however, it's a known fact, that men love girls who love motors. This venture is serious and has potential to show females in a positive light. It doesn't make us less a valid car enthusiast, and certainly does not degrade or give us less credence.

I consider myself a very serious 370z owner (soon to be)...and have joined this top forum because it provides invaluable resource.

Hope this will put it all in to sensible perspective for you.

Keep smiling girls.....if you've got it...flaunt it - and do it with pride and serious intent! Let's hear it for the girls!

yeah men do love girls that love motors.
if a hot girl was chatting to me about a new V8 something or other i would be drooling. but if they then bent over a car bonnet for some pictures i would walk off.

IF you had a good variety of women on the show of all sizes and looks and the show was about the driving and racing then fine. but i get the impression that you want a show with some hot skinny things driving fast cars... this is old news, i would watch it if i was 14 but now, no.

I think you are missing the point being made Stormgirl. I read your first post and am not sure if you have editied it now, but it read basically that you were selling a hot female body in a fast car. There are a few females on here and they are all taken quite seriously already by the male population of the forum. It just sounds like what you are after will just lesson the respect for the females, making them more 'sex objects' than geniunely interested in cars. Just my opionion though.

The serious thing was done with Formula Women. Stormgirl you should check that out as anything else is a bit 'maxpower' really and as husky said, has limited appeal.

It could be a perfect opportunity to show how good women racing drivers can be. Some of the best drag racing drivers are women but it's not a very high profile sport. Who knows, it might even get more women into motorsport :)

Similar concepts may have been done before but there is plenty of space on today's TV and if it's properly thought out and done well then I can't see why it wouldn't be very popular.

BTW, I don't think women being draped over bonnets was ever mentioned!

Whats the criteria for drivers Storm? Looks like there could be a few contenders already :)

Contributors and sponsors? What would that entail?
