It's slightly self-deprecating, and there's nothing much cooler than that. It's soft, but not too soft, and it's funny to those of us of a certain age.
I don't know about the dangerous dogs though. Your average owner wouldn't have the wit, or strength and confidence of character, to call their personality substitute 'Bungle' or similar.

Admittedly if I owned a white Micra, or Toyota Yaris say, I might call it the same. And if you can laugh at yourself driving something like that, what others think or say won't matter at all.
