I have been thinking about the black dog on my back for a few weeks now; and, I’ve concluded it’s going to need quite a bit of exercise before it’s worn out, which it needs to be. Hence I shouldn’t, and won't, be around until I’ve exercised (or rather exorcised) that black dog on my back. Hopefully I’ll be back, and posting, at some point in the New Year, but we’ll see. In the meantime, I hope all Members and their families have a wonderful Christmas and a very happy 2012.

Well, I hope you appreciate the fact that finding a decent version of and a decent video for this song took a little bit of time. I think it was worth it though. Disco and rock 'n' roll aren't always the best of bedfellows, but here they very much are - in what is probably the last really great Stones' song ever recorded.

Ahhh!, Guns N' Roses' touching paean to cheap alcohol . . .
Prior to about a week ago I hadn't listened to my copy of 'Appetite For Destruction' for about fifteen years. What an omission; as it is a savagely terrific album.
There is also a certain irony in my enjoying their love of cheap alcohol though, seeing as tonight I have been enjoying a mix of Talisker single malt and Old Peculier. Not out of the same glass though.

Hairs on the back of the neck time for me - although I could re-title this 'The VAG Way To Be'.
They played this song the first time I saw them live in 2005, but at the moment I haven't seen them live since December 2009. That will, however, be rectified next week. And I'm very excited . . . to put it mildly.

So, here we have Darker My Love; a current psychedelic band from LA, who I got into when the singer/bass player and the (thinner faced) guitarist/singer were drafted into The Fall in 2006. I really like this ('Two Ways Out'), particularly as it features a really soft voice from the bass player, who is an absolute bear of a man.
