The 80th edition of the Geneva International Motor Show will run from March 4 – 14, 2010. For the press days prior to the public opening, the exhibitors will be presenting a whole host of exciting World and European Premiers. More than 60 press conferences are planned for the day of March 2nd alone. All the information you will need for the 2010 Motor Show is available on the official website www.salon-auto.ch

After a highly eventful year, with a number of automobile companies merging, being sold, or new alliances being formed, the industry will seize the opportunity of the 80th Geneva International Motor Show to play their trump cards. All the major manufacturers and a large number of design houses, engineering and preparation specialists will be presenting, covering the whole of the 80,000 square metres of exhibition space of the 7 halls of Palexpo. They will present more than a hundred World and European Premiers. Economy cars propelled by alternative technologies are the current driving force in the market, but unique luxury automobiles and new classical sports cars will also be competing for the adulation of the passionate.

More than 60 press conferences have been scheduled by manufacturers for the first press day, March 2, 2010. Due to this great demand it was necessary for the organisers to arrange the conferences to take place in parallel for the first time. This is a clear indication that the future of the automobile remains exciting.

The Geneva International Motor Show is one of the most attractive shows in the world and ranks among the “Top 5 Worldwide” of the most important automobile exhibitions, alongside those in Detroit, Frankfurt, Paris, and Tokyo. It is the only one in Europe which takes place every year.

The official website, www.salon-auto.ch, is continually updated.

I'm up for this too - maybe a day trip or a one night stand? Any firmer on the dates?

I'm looking to tie this in with something else and can't confirm for a couple of weeks yet.

A good show, but disappointed to see that the Nissan standard featured NO sports models.

Thankfully bumped into Shiro Nakamura and was able to express my concern that Nissan are not promoting this sector of the market.

As usual too many concepts that will never see the real road and too many green 'marketing' vehicles.

Juke, Leaf and new Micra about sums up the Nissan stand

(Unfortunately the forum settings don't allow me to post pictures)

I suppose that with the recession, sports cars are going to become even more of a niche market sector. It was a big shame that Nissan were not promoting their sports cars at Geneva; I have been every year for the past few years and am seriously in the market for buying a GT-R.
