I am having a problem with the alarm on my 370Z going off. I have seen it happen a few times where it has been parked in the drive with no-one around and has gone off for about 30 seconds and then stopped. Anyone seen this before or have any idea what could be the problem? I guess it is just faulty so I will need to take it in to the dealer.

I posted about this a while ago as I have exactly the same problem. For me it can happen when it's windier. I rang the dealer (Marshalls), the bloke hadn't heard of any other occurrences and I haven't taken it in yet. However, he did suggest that it may help to keep the vents shut when parked and put the aircon to recirculate. This does seem to help but is a bit of a faff tbh. Let us know if you get any joy as Marshalls said on the phone they didn't seem think there was anything that could be done.

Mine seems fine (do far!)

You haven't got a spider playing around with your sensors have you?!

I know a few 350's went in for an alarm fix but I've not heard of one for the 370Z as yet.

I'd ask the dealer to take a look so it's at least on their radar.

Has anyone heard anything more about this issue ?

Mine seems to do it more often now, especially when the weather's bad (wind setting it off ?) - so the neighbours tell me ! Due the first service soon so I'll get the dealer to have a look.

It could also be those bruddy annoying cats that wander around, possibly sheltering from the weather

Maybe be talking rubbish, but sometimes seat belts dont always fully retract after use, if they then retract later they could set off the movement sensors and ultimately the alarm

Think it happens too often for that to be the case, as it can happen more than once between drives. I'll check just in case.

Mine does it during heavy rain storms but I have put it down to being a soft top as it never does it any other time. Was it raining or windy when yours went off.

It does seem to be when the weather is worse, which is what I put it down to, but it happens too often and seems to be worse now than through the winter when it was new.

Back to the dealers then matey and dont let them fob you of with there is nothing wrong.

I must admit I've noticed that my alarm has gone off now for the last few nights running ..... but I'm not sure if it's a fault, the weather, spiders - I've evicted a few quite large ones ( maybe I need to open the windows and driver faster to blow them out !!) or cats ( Muddy paw prints are appearing on my bonnet along with a scratch  )… but the neighbours will get annoyed if it carries on !!

Interesting that others seem to be getting it more often now. Ironically mine hasn't done it for ages (tempting fate to say that) and it has been very windy here. Very odd :)

I'm pleased to say I've not had a problem. In fact, I don't know what my alarm sounds like.

Lol - same here! You've made me wonder whether I should actually trigger the alarm just to make sure it does exist :)

Wow. This has been an interesting read.

It's just a thought, which comes from Celica land. Does anyone know if there is a sensitivity monitor or switch somewhere under the centre console, and in particular underneath one of the cubby holes or storage bins somewhere?

There's a sensor that's relevant to the sensitivity of the internal alarm under my Celica's centre console; and also, apparently, a lot of owners have had their alarm go off overnight if the sensitivity has been set too high and specifically if they have left coins or a mobile phone or indeed anything metal in the cubby hole immediately above it, which seems to give it a real hair trigger.

As I said, they are just thoughts. I just wondered if any of you have got access to an electrical diagram of the alarm workings of the Zed, but I wouldn't be too surprised if someone had, or if the circumstances when your alarms have gone off might have been as per the above?

I heard mine on the weekend. It was totally my fault - the car had auto-locked itself and then I jacked it up to do fit the spacers. This triggered the anti-lift sensor and she went off!

Note to self: either make sure the car is unlocked or switch off the lift sensor before I jack it up again... :)

Any one still having alarm problems ? I still hear it occasionally - e.g. 6.30 Mon morning - no idea whether it's cats, should the alarm be that sensitive if they walk under the car ?

Mine's in today to see if they can find a problem - nothing so far but at least I have more confidence they'll investigate the issue than Marshalls did(n't).

Funnily enough I heard an alarm go off this morning for about 30 secs but don't know if it was my car or not as it stopped before I could check. It was pretty windy this morning, not sure if that caused it. Other than that haven't really noticed it, but that's not to say it isn't still doing it.

All form of alarm except fire are required by law to reset after 20/30 seconds.

I've had no problems with mine, but having fitted car audio and alarms in the past, the most common cause of false triggers are insects and air vents.

It's definitely worth checking under the cover of the ceiling mounted entry lights, as the alarm sensor is also there, if you find spiders web, you've probably found your culprit! Close your air vents see if that makes a difference?

Double check your windows are auto closing properly when you shut the door, not likely but you never know!

Buster.....
