Hi guys/girls,
I'm thinking of a track day in the Zed.
Previously I have done 5 or 6 Airfield track days in my 300zx and then the TT Supra so not a complete novice. These were all done at RAF Marham over the last few years on their Charity track days. These were a fantastic mix of long straights (170 mph in the supra) and both high and low speed corners.
I like the idea of airfield style track days as there is next to nothing to hit if anything goes wrong but the days I did at Marham completely ruined the front of my Supra through stone chipping.
So to those of you that track your car, what would be a good track for a day out not too far from me (east anglia)?
I was thinking about Bedford Autodrome. What's it like there for stones etc? This is my main concern.
Also, I might get the missus to get me a track day voucher for Christmas to use towards it, any recommendations on a company to use? MSV?
Which track day?

MSV run good days but read the small print at least once before using them, i got stung with a day that i booked 7 days before i needed to go, then the car had terminal issues and they wouldnt give me a refund or any credit or transfer the day or anything, must tell them at least 14 days in advance if you need to cancel even if you book after it!
still, i use them because they are quite pro about things when your at the track.
Bedford is the best place for your first on track, track day, quite a bit of run off, very varied amounts of corners, only downside is the noise limit is 98db i think and its one hit and your off, and the tracks flat. Tarmac is nice though, no stones etc
I did a few days there when i was starting, really concentrating on getting the best out of the corners and the car. Do an open pit lane and make sure its the GT day so you get the full track and at your own pace, ie wait for the idiots to go out and then give yourself some room to do what you want.
Past that point i'd suggest maybe Snetterton as its over your way, still decent run off (which ive made use of) but 'better' corners to play with and some awesome camber on some of them.
If Snetterton is out of order due to the new track design then rockingham is good fun but not much run off and quite a few concrete walls, just ignore the paint on the concrete

Airfields are always hard on your car - very abrasive surface.
Silverstone is one of Colin's strong recommendations.

Silverstone is good but you pay for it if you want to do the full circuit, the track surface is lovely there though

Silverstone is good, only done it once though.
Bedford is pretty featureless but there is is very little to hit of you come off, so perhaps a good start?
