I have tried Club MSV & they were fine.

I have the URL's for Trackdays & Javelin (for my closest 'track' @ Woodbridge) but not tried them yet.

Any others you can recommend (or point me at an old post with that data in it)?

All the MSV days ive done have been really good. well organised and no nob heads on track.

I think the porsche owners clubs use gold track or somethong that run a very limited number of cars out on track to give you the best tack fun!

It really depends on where the trackday is and what your trackday experience is. If you're an experienced trackdayer then RMA are probably the best. They have straightforward briefings, limited numbers, open pitlane and overtaking on both sides making the day easy for people in less exotic machinery (responsibility of overtaker to get past safely). They are expensive. A new company (the racing line) seems to be run by a decent bunch of people and would be worth a shot. I think there is a thread in the trackday section of PH about them.

RMA days are considered dangerous by some.

Goldtrack have been very good - cost a lot but that seems to ensure respect on the track as the quality of car matches the top end price. However there were a few days last year where Radicals were a plenty and not showing due respect. They were therefore put on one warning and you're out. Seemed to do the trick.

Circuit Days are also good and the cost is significantly lower.

Javelin don't have a very good reputation - check out Open Pit Lane.

The Racing Line is a new one but have seemed to upset some people already according to the street.

Hi Jo, it's been a long time! Everything well at the CATDT end?

With RMA, experience is important. I would NOT recommend RMA days to a novice. However, as someone who has done a few days with various organisers, I find them good. The driving standards are very good and you do not get people turning up in dangerous heaps! The overtaking on both sides is a bonus as it places the onus of making a safe overtake on the overtaker and billy trackdriver (me) does not have to drive full laps looking in my mirrors but can concentrate on my lines.

I forgot to mention Goldtrack; they are good too. Again, you pay top dollar but you get what you pay for. High driving standards and Melindi has a low tolerance of fools.

How have Racing Line managed to upset people already? They have not even organised a day yet! I've met Angus and Phil and they both seem decent, upfront chaps. Also heard very good things about Dave who will be running the days (has been described as the best tdo in the past).

All very good thanks Rishie - the year's getting busy already and it's only January! Trust life is good with you too.

Ref. RMA - you obviously weren't there at Odiham then :type:

The competitive world of the TDO - how many TDO's can there be? TRL seem to be going head to head with people that used to be good friends and I hear this is causing dischord.

Oh and Silverstone now organise their own days too.

+1 for Club MSV

I have done three open pitlane events at Snetterton and have thought them all very well organised. No idiots at any of the days and I made some good friends too.

People are all keen to get out first thing, but then start going home at 14.00 leaving the track really quiet. I had about 20mins where there was just me and an Elise - epic!

Ah yes, the Odiham debacle! :type: One off from what I hear and caused Graham to throw a hissy fit (good at that sort of things apparently!) and I hear it may have been dropped for the future. Still think they are the best.

This is all very useful. Have started planning a calendar for 2011 so will lookup the good ones from peoples posts above (not RMA as I am a novice still, will bear them in mind for after I've done 3-4 more events) and add their dates in.

Thankyou all.

Has anyone had any experience with Car Limits? Someone I know recommended them for cheap track days but I don't know anything about them.

Car Limits don't organise track days Paul but they hold activity days and driver training days at North Weald.

That's what I thought too but this chap said he'd been on track days with them (organised for a club). I'll double check to see if it was a proper track day or just some cones on the airfield.

BTW, you and Colin are the track Queen & King - there is no way I'm going with them for training!

They're closely affiliated with Lotus on Track which is closely linked to Seloc so maybe that's the connection.

Colin always says you can learn something from everyone. I don't agree as there is no one with Yoda's knowledge and ability so gag him at the earliest opportunity :type:
