I really need an ND filter, I have a nice hoya CPF and some cheap stepping rings so It fits all my lenses but no ND filter yet. Thanks for posting the video's it really show what cpf can do!

You can do some of ND effects with a CPL as they stop light getting to the Sensor, I just got myself some ND Filters 0.3, 0.6, 0.9 and need to play around with them :P

Example of ND Filter would still like to test it on a 370z Driving off with its lights on but I can take the picture while driving :D

Not sure why you'd need to use an ND filter for the example you posted, you just shut the aperture down for the longer shutter timing?

Try setting keep the exposure down for 10 secounds, which was taken just past midday you just get a white wash effect (White Image), The ND darkens the image and stops light which allows you to keep the exposure open for longer, so the water (things moving) blurs... if you use larger appature you get a shallow depth of field use a small Appature your get a darker image but less depth of field...

Main points you can use Neutral density filters can be used to create any combination of longer exposure time, a shallower depth of field and a sharper photograph. the first one being the most common the image I posted is not a picture of a smooth river its more like a rapids.

It dose depend on the camera though more expensive cameras will not need the filters as they have better controll over the light hitting the sensor :S

Any of you with iPhone/iPads, if you haven't already, you should download the apple 12 days of Christmas app. Free stuff! Today was a free photo app, so I took a photo and applied everything. Here is the result!

My original picture was a bit dark, yes. I know it's a bit grainy. I was more playing with the effects than trying to make it look awesome. The sky looks pretty cool though.
