Hey folks,

Firstly, i hope York is classed as the midlands so i've put this thread in the right regional forum :hello:

Secondly, in May i'm heading to a Scottish stag party in York , i'm flying from Dublin airport to Leeds/Bradford airport. I know York city centre is roughly 45 minutes away from the airport but my question is what bus service would be the best to use from the airport to York and back out to the airport again on the Sunday morning to fly back to Dublin ?? I arrive in Leeds/Bradford at 7pm on the Friday night and depart for Dublin at 1.40pm on the Sunday.

I'm looking for a bus service that is very frequent in case we missed a time and also doesn't cost the world ! So any locals that can help me out i would mucho appreciate it.

Thanks in advance,

Pete.

I had a look at that site already, Martin. I found it on the Leeds/Bradford website but the bus services on that take over 2 hours to get to York ?? WTF ? AA routefinder shows it to be only 45 minutes and 30 miles. I don't want to spend 2 hours and 15 minutes on a bus when we'll be late as it is getting into the airport so we'll be late for the stag. That's why i said i'd check local knowledge of any good bus services from the airport straight on the main road to York.

Thanks,

Pete.

Northern (not midlands!) busses tend to stop at every village along the way. So that is why the bus will take so long. I'd guess the best options would either be:
  • a private hire Taxi. (airport Taxi's aren't too bad usually if you can book in advance, and split between however many of you?)
  • bus to Leeds and hop on the train from there?

Leeds to York by train is quick and frequent (at most times of day). Plus York station is right by the City Centre (next to the city walls!).

Not sure of buses from Leeds/Bradford Airport to Leeds station though. Problem is airport is west of Leeds and York is north-east.

Thanks guys. I'll look into getting a bus into Leeds so and a train to York. There are 2 of us coming over from Ireland for the stag. I've been to York before 2 years ago, it's a lovely part of the uk i must say.
