I took the gamble and applied for 1200 worth of Olympic tickets (mainly athletics and cycling) and have been charged £ 254. Anyone else applied and been charged.

I'm glad that worked out for you Dan. I wonder what you've got!

I'm going to wait for the credit card bill before I know. Am I right in thinking that midnight tonight is the latest they'll take the money?

Heard of people bidding for £10000+ for tickets.

Read an article saying its hugely geared towards people taking big gambles and potentially getting in vast amounts of debt. Just what you need when the country is trying to get itself out of recession!

If they know how much to debit your credit card then they know how many tickets you have been allocated :) Madness!! They should tell you what you have been charged for, legally I thought they were obliged to??

Those two posts could have been written by me, as I entirely agree with Dan.

I heard this morning of someone getting over £10,000 worth of tickets allocatd to him, but it was more than was in his bank account so his bank sensibly refused the transfer. The ticketing authority gave him another chance, and so he borrowed some money off his wife and took a bank loan for the rest and he got them.

Fools and their money . . . is what I think.

Are the ticketing arrangements being run by those people who used to work for the banks up to mid-2008? From the look of it, and the geography of it, I wouldn't be surprised if it was. The amount of squirming that Coe has done in the interviews he's participated in on this subject made me awfully suspicious that it was badly arranged too.

Seem to remember seeing a story that tickets were freely available sur le continent. Under EU rules anybody in UK could buy them on the internet. Meanwhile huge numbers of tickets passed to all the freeloaders Olympic organisations et al. After the fiasco of the logo only to be expected. Uncle Boris has a plan to ship school children in to fill up empty spaces. Saved my money by not applying for tickets and filled the Zed up instead.

It would appear more tickets will be offered to those unlucky in 1st round, apparently if they bounced credit card details 3 times that was it game over :).
