I like the Beeb and think it's sad they are forced to cut their budget (and losing all those F1 races in the process).

However, it wound me up watching the local BBC news tonight. They were doing a piece on the cuts then they crossed over to a reporter doing an outside broadcast in the dark in front of a closed BBC office. What a blinkin' waste of money that was :#1:

Yes, we knew cuts of this kind of ilk were coming as there had been rumours circulating for a while. I'm even prepared to accept that cutting everything - including, in the main it seems, the F1 coverage - is cheaper that cutting some things completely.

However, like most public bodies over the last few years, they have got very good at wasting money. It's just a shame they couldn't have realised sooner, if they will ever realise . . .

I don't know, I still love the BBC. Even a cut down BBC is a million times better than the banal rubbish proffered by all other broadcasters. Don't blame the institution and what it represents, blame bad management.

Although, when they had the money, I suppose I don't blame them for giving the third reserve camera van driver his own make up artist too. It gave them jobs to do, even though in their heart of hearts they should all hopefully have realised that it wasn't going to last forever.

the reference was to the management.

the Beeb has produced and supported a large range of new talent that might not have flourished without the BBC's support.

i hope the cuts aren't too damaging
