Welcome to the forum MrJim.
Best advice I can give is buy a UK car with the highest spec and latest year possible. Mileage does not seem to be an issue so long as the syncromesh is OK.
I would go for a 313hp 7500RPM from 07 onwards if it was me.

Hi Jim,

I'm relatively new to the whole 350z ownership experience and have been loving every minute of it so far! The main thing I looked for when I bought mine was an unmolested UK example with relatively low mileage and a full service history... It took a bit of searching and I had a 200mile round trip to eventually find the right one but it was well worth it!

Welcome to the forum :bounce:

Hi Jim :bounce:

Wise words from Paul there. If you are thinking of a particular colour then that might limit your choice of years as some colours came and went at different times.

Have you seen this thread on things to look out for?

Generally its a bullet proof car, but things to look out for are

Gear box syncro's going especially 3rd into 2nd and 6th into 5th
there seems to be a growing amount of cars showing high oil usage. (so a good check of the oil level, and ask when it was last filled) also check the rad bottle for any signs of mayo.
clicky rear axles,

my advice like above, find a good UK car, with good history and recipts which should mean well cared for. and try and get the best you can for your money.

Hello Jim, and welcome. :bounce: :teeth:

The advice in the above post covers the main bases, to be honest. A good service history, and the older the car the more receipts etc the better. Although to be honest again an older car that's had all the necessary work done to it in the meantime is probably going to be nearly as sound as a new "other" car.

Ignore all the other comments about speed. Gunmetal-ish or metallic greys may be he fastest/best colours in other cars, but a Zed in black will always be the fastest/best, if perhaps not the grippiest. :bounce: :(

Welcome

Had a Scoob years ago (STI 2) & much prefer the zed if that helps confirm your choice

I would look for a decent car & not worry on getting a specific colour although obviously there will be certain colours you wont want. Prices are falling so dont be scared to bid hard as well, you might be lucky. If you find a car you like post it up here as someone may know it, same with dealers name if buying from a dealer as theres the odd one with a bad name
