I have lost the backlighting on my speedo in the 180 - 220mph zone.
This is very annoying on the commute home as I can't see if my speed is below 195.Posted Image

Also the musicbox has gone beserk twice now in the last month.
It starts scrolling up and down albums at a rapid pace for about 15 seconds occasionally stopping to try and play the track, but starts scrolling again before it has time to do it. No controls are being touched while it does this. The last time was just after leaving the Silverstone Mizuno event...

Anyone else had this on a GTR or a Z? Mine was from the first UK batch in April 2009

guessing it's still under warranty? could be a bad solder, broken track/wire or a dead led.

Well, it is a known fault and Nissan will change the whole dash under warranty even though its just a couple of LEDs...
Only problem is the miles will be at zero again as they cannot program it to the previous mileage.
Unsure wether to change it now.

That's ridiculous! Is it legal for them to put it to 0?

I bought a polo a few years back. It was a fairly cheap car ~1k mark. The only think that disturbed me slightly was that it's instrument panel had been replaced and the clock said 12k miles. They had all the paperwork from the garage that said the exact mileage that it was changed at so I knew the correct miles for the motor, but it was still a concern. I drove the car for about 2 years with absolutely no problems.

As it was only a run around, it didn't matter too much. But on a GT-R I guess it would have an effect of the resale value. But do you want to be without the LEDs? Tough decision.

Nissan USA are now extending the warranty to 6 years on the dash and musicbox.
I will get both changed before the warranty runs out. Some people are on their 2nd replacement dash!

Same music box on the 370Z surprised no one has noticed any problems with it.

I'm not lucky enough to have one of those. I have a 7" 45rpm player behind the seat

My clock's must have been replaced as the car had 0miles on it when I bought it. (Was 4 months old) It is noted in the service book though, so must cover the legal bit.

Just had the music box hard drive changed and they are reconditioned Clarion units - Anyone remeber the fun with 350Z clarion CD skipping...
Needless to say it is not working properly. It takes about 30 seconds to read a CD on the display and if the CD is changed the car has to be switched off before it will read it again.
Nissan have a policy of not replacing them with new as they are £8K now.

So it will have to be changed again.

Any idea what's failing in these things?
