Hi all

OK, i haven't actually got the car yet .... but im looking to get one very soon.....
i dont mine getting an 2008+ model one, but i heard there be a new 2012 model out soon, is it worth waiting spending a bit more for it? and what does the new one have, that the old one doesn't?

if i was to go for the 2008+ model, what the different between the basic and black edition? any options extra i should look out for?

is there any fault or things i should look out for? any known / common fault with the car?

ideally im looking for a white one.... but i haven't seen many around..... only seen 1 once, manly black.

any help will be much much appreciated

THANKS

Hello :welcometonissansportz:

What a happy position to be in!

paul_k and WoREoD will be able to give you the best answers.

In the mean time, I think I'm right in saying that the newer versions have gone up in power with each incarnation. Also, the later cars have longer service intervals, and if you get a brand new one you'll get a good deal on servicing too.

Have you driven one yet? They are IMMENSE!

Hi gfn and welcome to the forum :D

I would go for a UK model which was from April 2009 but then I am a little biased!
Not much difference between the 2009 and 2010 models but 2011 got decent launch control, 530hp and 4% more torque.
2012 model with 550 hp is £20,000 more than the 2009 model so it really depends on your budget.

Black edition is the top spec and gets the black roof lining, darker wheels and red striped seats.
Its the only option if you like black.

You will be blown away by the performance :D

No real issues at all with the car. I would watch out for hidden cobb / ecutec tunes in excess of 580hp as the rods will fatigue.
Look out for cracked front discs, inner edge tyre wear and the dreaded Nissan stone chipped paint.
Ideally a full HPC service is worth having.

Couple of points:

From the MY11 there is no separate Premium or Black editions. Just one and you get to choose your seat syle.

I've used Nissan fiance twice now - once on the 350Z and on my current GT-R. They've been as competitive as anybody and the dealer will usually give up comission to make the package. On the MY11, using Nissan Finance can get you a free, 27,000 miles servicing deal..... - or you can pay £499 for it. Not sure if this applies to the MY12 (which will have first deliveries March next year)

i like to keep the type r, no matter what people say about it, i think is a really good car. but the GTR is just in a completely different league.

ohhhh 1 very important thing i missed out...... ok with the gtr tyres....so you HAVE to use nitrogen and not normal air from a petrol station?

Just happen to watch the Top Gear and remember JC saying something about that

what the general cost of maintenance for the GTR ?

Depends if you go to an HPC or Litchfields.
I've spent £2200 so far in 2.5 years on HPC servicing:
http://forums.nissan...for-my11-gt-rs/

Litchfields costs are here:
http://www.litchfiel...r_servicing.asp

Nitrogen is getting more and more popular these days. Topping up with air is not a problem though.

Go for it! You will not regret it :drive1

I would get the dealer to confirm it has never been tuned and if the oil temps have been over 120 then proof that they were changed within the mileage requirement.
It is still a buyers market so push for a good deal.
