So a couple of things have come up as i use the forums.

1) The notification emails;
The subject line contains the user who posted, can we remove this/move it into the body of the email?

I like to use immediate notification on all my forum updates, can we stop it sending an email for every update and change it to only send an update once per visit?

2) Links within topics, i think possibly limited to the older/imported posts from the old forum software, do not work, they are missing the "http://forums.nissansportz.com/" portion of the address.

3) (yeah 3, sue me :) ) The links in the notification emails are below the update, could this be moved to be the first thing in the email after the info saying "this was replied to"

Thanks.

Well, continuing the theme then, it's a shame 'reports to Moderators' from the same Member about generically the same thing can't be aggregated and delivered once a day instead of one at a time when several are sent on a rapid fire basis . . . :P

If you have multiple issues, why not begin a thread? Then, if you find some more, you can add them to the ongoing list . . .

Yep, we all did. and we all ignored you  No, seriously we will deal with them (or try to) but it's a tad close to Christmas for anyone to have much time now.

I'll try to answer your points... :)

1) This might be possible but it would mean rewriting some of the forum code which would then cause problems for future upgrades. May I ask why you'd like it done?

The notification options are "Instantly", "Only when not online", "Daily" and "Weekly". I assume you are using the "Instantly" setting from what you say. What is it you mean by once per visit? Don't forget you can choose to be notified by either Notification List, Email, or both.

2) I'll look into this. I have to write a script when we upgraded to remove an erroneous '/' from the URL. I might have missed some other problems with links.

3) Similar to my first answer, I'll look into it but I'm reluctant to make any changes that will be overwritten in future upgrades.

I think we should leave it as individual warnings. The reason being some might be urgent (such as dodgy spammers) and we don't want a delay in getting any of these messages.

I'll check Andy. It should be set for all Mods and Committee to receive them. Can you see any orange text on the very top of the forum telling you of any 'Active Reports'?

wrong Andy, but...

I get loads of "queued" stuff in each forum, most of which is between 6 months and 3 years old. I don't get active reports, neither did I see the report to mods mails.

I think I need to look at the active reports section a little harder then...

"Queued" stuff are posts that have been made invisible by the Moderating team. Again, I'll check the permissions :)

Obviously forum defaults will be used where possible, but i find it odd that the defaults are as they're currently set. This is linked to number 3 in a way, the reason i'd like them changing to my suggestion, is that it's the default presentation from 99% of all other forums out there. I'm clearly used to the other way, but it also makes more sense (to me at least)
Getting one update per thread touch is preferable to stop spam, the only do it when offline option isn't good, as the forums have poor ability to know when you've gone or not.
As for number 3, again, same thing, when i get update emails, i want to see that thread name was updated, if i want to know who replied and/or with what, i will check the message body, having all that in the subject line is very non standard.

As for the links, i think it's a minor problem, but it's still there for legacy topics.

I'd obviously like it if these changes could be made, esp. after it being a "standard" elsewhere, but if it really is a problem, i totally understand your view on it,

(That and when the thread update contains links, you have to manually check the right link to get the thread update link, or scroll a lot when it's a large update)
