Having read all the other suggestions on other threads, just thought I would share my thoughts. The cheapest place to buy from seams to be www.oponeo.co.uk.

These are what I'm looking at:

So we have:

Toyo Proxes T1-R at 2 x 183 + 2 x 171 = £708
Vredestein at 2 x 181 + 2 x 173 = £708
Dunlop SP01 at 2 x 217 + 2 x 207 = £848
Hankook k107 at 2 x 167 + 2 x 164 = £662

but I can get 3 of the dunlop rears at 450 which would put the dunlops at:

Dunlop SP01 at 2 x 150 + 2 x 207 = £714 (+150 for extra tyre = £864 outlay) - this is really tempting, 2 out of the 3 tyres are currently on Jag XJ wheels, but none have ever been driven on tarmac (the pictures still seem to show the 'new' lines. Is there anything else I should think about when looking at second hand new tyres?

Any thoughts are welcome.

They look like good prices mate. Those Hankooks are £7 cheaper than when I bought mine at the beginning of the year.

To be honest, I don't think you can go wrong with any of those. One thing that might be worth considering - if you go for a great price on some more expensive tyres you will win now but if the worst happens and you get a puncture it might cost you more to replace that tyre (or a set) in the future.

I've never bought second hand tyres (except when they are already on the rim of a wheel I'm buying). If the ones you've found are 'as new' then I don't think you can go wrong. Just make sure they are the exact same tyre that you think they are (for example, the RE040's there's one for the RX8 and another one for the 350Z).

One last thing, I've heard the Dunlops don't last as many miles as the other brands.

Always hated Toyo's, just nothing like people have told me, surprised by some Hankooks i've had, i'd take them from that list.

Ok, still thinking on this. I nearly pulled the trigger on the vredesteins, but I just phoned a local dealer (local to my office in maidenhead). He has in stock Pirrelli P Zeros for the 370 rear. They are normally 248.95 each, put there is 10 off the pre-VAT price. Please can someone look at my maths, but I make it:

((248.95 - (248.95 / 120 * 20)) * 0.9) * 1.2 = 224.06

So 2 fitted = 448.12
Vredesteins are 171 each plus 22.50 fitting = 193.50 *2 = £387 fitted

What are people's feeling on P Zeros?

I've nothing but good things to say about all the Pirrelli's I've tried. Not tried them on the Z just yet but then there's plenty of meat on the bone still.

Reading round gives the same opinion. It seams they are awesome tyres, but don't last too long. I think I might give these a go. It was either that or the Vreds, but for the hassle of getting them delivered and taking them to the garage, vs an extra 20-30 quid, I think am going to take the P Zeros.

I need 2 new rear 275/35 R19 tyres for the 350z and I always use camskill for the Falken tyres I always buy. Just checked the website above and they were £20 more expensive and I didn't even check how much p+p was to ireland !! Camskill all the way for me !

So I went with the Vreds in the end, the tyre place I went to recommended them over the contis at the same price. They put them on balanced and even slipped the 20mm spacers on too for ~520.

So my thoughts.

1. The tyres look pretty mean when you see the car from behind! And the spacers really do make an improvement!
2. Tyre noise seems louder at the front (bridgestones) than at the rear
3. We had a thunderstorm in Leeds on Saturday and I had to drive back to Scunthorpe. The roads were beyond wet, with standing water in places and the grip was awesome. When safe I did use my right foot and it launched me forwards, not sideways, which was great in the conditions.

Will have to see how long they last but the tread is pretty deep! Hopefully it will match or beat the 14k my bridgestones lasted. But for now, very pleased and would recommend them to anyone!
