Hi,
I've an LHD Euro version. This is not the first problem since brand new.

Locked steering? Same problem: should be Warranty but dithering and looking to duck seems part of Nissan policy.

It's a "B" lock and shows up code B210A ("S/L state Sw") and others.
Car in storage awaiting Nissan activity......studied in-activity seems common enough.

I wonder what the UK Chassis numbers are. European versions have a "U" after the Z34
but no known ID of date of manufacture. Is that Euro "concealment"..

Also I wonder if I could get some ideas of the dates on other locks against the supposed date of car manufacture....
.....as distinct from the year model.

My lock was made at least 10 months before the supposed date of car manufacture. Another part was made way over a year earlier.

Name for the car? It has been changed to "the g car"

I'd also love to get rid of that steering lock. It's heavy and I don't need it and I already carry a few other spare bits which saved me once.

Hi FTD :welcometonissansportz: - why not start up a new thread and introduce yourself? :)

Here is a quote from one of the many emails I've been swapping with one of our Nissan contacts:

Quote

A production countermeasure went on line 15-Mar-2010 for all Z production, VIN’s SJN12AAZ34U0200746 and SJN1GAAZ34U0300622. So any VINS higher than this have the revised part and any part numbers lower than this will have the original part.

I hope that helps answer part of your question.

I'm sorry to hear you have been suffering from this issue too. Did you get the warning light come up on the dash when you were driving or was the first sign of trouble when the car failed to start?

Paul S, I answered this a few days ago, but can't see it was posted so re-try.
Steering locks: My consult III diagnostics showed B2014. With the lock disconnected it got B210A S/L state Sw B2014 Chain of S/L BCM B2607 S/L Relay B2609 S/L Status and B 2612
S/L status.

I opened up the lock (a series B). There was so much grease in blobs inside that sensors plainly could not do the job. Grease removed with Q tips. Reassembled and all's fine. Very complicated it is though. Nissan warranty? Don't get me going.

My Chassis S/N is a U01. Germany is a U03 I believe. UK is U02 with a different style numbering according to Paul_S above post. My end number is a couple of digits ahead of the ones you showed. It was stated to be "Euro 4" and "manufactured in 2010" which seems contradictory.

It certainly did not have a "revised" steering lock. It was a series B dated Feb 2009. I do not remember any specific warning light...just a broody.. "light"...then a light per manual to show locked steering. While testing my initially poor "re-assembly" (It's V tricky!)..... I got the "locked steering" light and sometimes a "key" light. The battery was disconnected each night.

The locks are made in USA apparently, by Automotive Parts Manufacturing.

That's very interesting. Thanks for some great information there.

So you opened up the lock and cleaned it up and got it working?

I'll do some more investigations for you with regard to the chassis numbers, etc. I think the fact that we are now on 'D' (4 versions) then it would indicate to me that there are still issues with 'B' and 'C' to some extent.

From a personal point of view, I think it is quite brave to fix this issue yourself as there is a safety aspect involved. But, well done for working on the issue :)

I'm SO pleased it's back mate :)

Now - I hope you have a weekend of driving planned!

I had another communication from Nissan today and the Nissan decision-making machine is still rolling on. I will let you all know as soon as I have some firm news.

Did you ever hear back on this Paul?

I haven't had the answer I want from Nissan GB but I do have lots of info. I'll share all the info when I put it together (sorry for not getting round to it yet).

I'm still plugging away but it does seem like I'm flogging a dead horse at the moment.

Just had a similar problem with my 2010 roadster - orange key light came on, steering lock would not disengage, no engine start.

RAC recovered it to Desira Norwich (local GTR specialist) - after a few hours they found that the multiplug that connects NATS to steering column was not properly seated (vibrated loose due to our potholed roads?) - pulled it out, pushed it back in until it clicked home - car works perfectly again.
