Hi all,

Looking to get a full set of tyres for my 350z - and have recently seen a post on here around this.

After haggling the price down all of today, the best deal I cam across is a set of Bridgestone RE050s on the rear, and the RE040s on the front for £500 all in. Now looking at these online, they have great reviews and the deal I've been offered seems pretty cheap - does everyone agree with this?

Just wondered if anyone had used the bridgestones at all, and know what they are like?

Cheers.

I like Bridgestones personally, but i understand the variations/options for them in the UK are a little crap. I've heard good things about the RE050's but don't know about the 40's.

What tyre sizes are you looking for? i don't recall if 17inch wheels were in the UK?

The tyres i'm going to try for are the RE970A S Pole Positions when the time comes next year, but all this depends on what you're after, they're all season tyres, but if you're just after summer tyres for example?

RE050s come on the 370 from new. They do the job, and kept my car on the black bit for about 12k miles. But come replacement time, I am thinking of changing. The road noise is quite high, and they don't like the cold, the fronts seem to skip along the road a little for the first 100m when the temp is below 10 degrees.

That said if I found a full replacement set for 500 quid, I'd probably stick with them!

Yeah looking at getting the following:

225/45r18 for the front
245/45r18 for the rear

Just noticed that the tyres I have on there at the moment are a set of 050 bridgestones! Apparently the guy can't get them in stock now. Was looking at maybe ordering a set of Hankook k110 off black circles and getting someone to fit them for me - thoughts anyone?

Do I have to be careful going that way?

Blackcircles are fine mate and there are others on here (PaulW) who has Hankooks on at the minute and seems to be ok with them.

Yeah think I'm going to go down that route to be honest - get my own and get someone to fit them for me. Seems a far better option and considerably cheaper.

Heard very good things (and know someone with them on) about the falken fk452s - and I can get a set online for around 430, and then 40 to fit them, so under 500 pound for a full set of falkens seems a very good option to me?

Can anyone else back up the falkens? Good to use? The guy I spoke to at the garage said the bridgestones are slightly overrated, and tbf my car has done 15k miles and they need changing, so would like a change :)

Cheers.

I'm on my second set of Falkens, so I guess I like them :)

I liked my Falkens :)

One thing I would do though - phone around for some quotes on fitting your tyres. Some places I spoke to wanted £25 a wheel!! (that's for fitting, new valve, balancing and disposal of the old tyre). An extra £100 for fitting suddenly makes you think about the on line prices again.

Some on line places (ETyres are one I think) will include the price of fitting at a place near you...

Last comments i heard on Falkens were good grip to begin with, then pretty crap after that, their grip levels just disappeared part way into the use.

Absolutely do not mix tyre types! The 040s are naff in the wet, the 050s are probably much better. You're risking understeer and if the different tyre types are incompatible, ESP problems.

If you want a decent tyre at a good price I can recommend Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas:
