I have the same problem with my car although mine has done 60+. Have booked it in to be replaced on thursday with an OEM exedy clutch for £550 and may change the dual mass flywheel as well which is an additional £350, so not a cheap fix. Hope this help Henry

I would say 30k isn't unusual, but a bit on the low side. Hennerz has the answer you were looking for I believe :)

I'm not 100% sure but when mine was done they inspected the flywheel and advised on a new one. In that instance I sourced a lightweight one rather than go OEM.

I did know either lol. But from what i understand they can only inspect the flywheel once the clutch is out and unless the dual mass flywheel free play is out of spec, or the friction surface has scoring you don't need to change it. But they will normally always advise changing it rather than paying the labour charge again further down the line. which ever way you look at it there is not a cheap fix sadly :(

Hope this helps mate :)

I wouldn't fit a lightened flywheel to be honest , will make the transmission noisy as the dual mass flywheel dampens the gearbox noise.

You can buy a new dual mass for around the same money as a single piece flywheel and keep a nice quiet car. We have had many customers fitting a single piece flywheel and then complaining of the increased gearbox noise.

Mine has done 99k miles and still on original clutch. Occasional slippage suggests it is on its way out but each time it has been serviced by a dealer they tell me it is still within its specification.....

So I've been holding off until I can get round to having the synchros on the gearbox done at the same time.

If you've got somebody to do the job, zmanalex can usually supply oem parts......

Mine is on 60k and still no slip, ever ! I am rather sympathetic towards it though.
