Dual carriageway by my house is 50 limit.

Always check carefully for police and caned it past about 7 cars well into 4 th gear...
All of a sudden police car is behind me - where the hell did he come from?

Him - You were really booting that sir were you not
Me - Yes I was giving it some - (no point denying it)
Him - You do realise that is a very fast car and you could easily lose your license in a car like that (my heart sinks)
Me - Yes apologies, I normally save it for the track
Him - How many points have you got on your licence?
Me - None officer
Him - Is that because we couldn't catch you!
Me - I'm sure you could
Him - How much are a set of tyres on that? (looks at tyres which are just about legal)
Me - £1400 officer
Him - Good god what do you do for a living?
Me - Nothing special just spend all my money on cars
Him - OK Just slow down in future and consider yourself lucky that I was not traffic!

And off he went. Guy was quite young so must like GTRs - Was thinking ban time or 9 points and heavy fine!

Naughty naughty! Thats terrible! You went above the speed limit so its your own fault.....;) Im only joking mate, we all like to have a little play now and again but you did get lucky there! Just takes one police person to be having a bad day and you end up banned.

True. I have to say I've only had two dealings with traffic police and both have been good. The first was when I broke down on the motorway (my first car as a student) and the second was early last year when an undercover car flashed their blues at me then waved a finger because I booting it past some slower cars after some roadworks.

On the whole the guys and gals do a good job and are fair. It's speed cameras and other automated 'law devices' that lack intelligence and don't take account of the road conditions, time of day, and de-meaner of the car.

Very very lucky ..... I think the "naughty school boy caught with a fag behind the bike shed" look and the apologetic and respectful response definately helped !! :)

Glad to hear you escaped with a warning. :help: :rtfm: :rule:

No doubt you'll keep it more decent, as per usual. :hypocrite: Good to hear a copper use their discretion to put the frightners on and warn of future consequences. :notworthy:

Trouble is all you need is a *squeeze* for a couple seconds max... god help us when we go stage 6! :drive1 :evil2:

Ive found always being polite, owning up to what you have done & being non confrontational helps the situation. There are far more decent coppers around than bad ones with a reosnable attitude to speeding AS LONG AS its in a reosnably safe situation. They are only doing their job after all. If anyones been in a big wreck they will also appreciate how much they can do for you when you need them.

A friend had a drag race with a Skoda last week, got to 130 & then the chap poped the blues on, again a decent chat & no further action although how the duck he didnt work out it was plod next to him at the lights I will never know

[. . .]

I'd second all that. Everyone in the know I've spoken to, or heard from, has said the same thing. And it does make sense.

Further, the one time I needed one of them, I did get a lot of aid from him. The cheeky beggar did check my tyres first - even though he nearly slipped on his backside on the black ice - but they were fine and therefore so was he with me.

Thats been my experience too, when I had the 370z I was pulled doing 120 in a 50 zone ( blush ) a very nice young female officer got on the phone to verify that I was the owner ( only had it 5 days ) while the other Officer was checking out the car, I felt sooo sure that I was going to have the book thrown at me ( would have deserved it ) but she came over and said " Its your lucky day, we are drug squad but we had to advise you anyway....as you are a new owner to such a car we would advise that you stick to the speed limit " I was gob smacked and very relieved, they followed me for about 5 miles and I drove like a saint for the rest of the journey : )
