Hi Guys and girls,

When I drove down to a mates on Saturday (70 miles) I noticed that when I was there that my front disc’s had a rust band nearest the hub and the same when I got home, does this mean that the disc are on there way out or a problem with my pads/calipers?

Thanks Henry

Is it in the same place on both discs?

Without having seen it I would think it's OK. The pads will never go all the way up to the hubs so you would expect a build up of rust there.

Any chance of some pics so we can make a better judgement? :)

I was just going through some old photos to see if I could find one that explain what I mean. This is the closest I could find:

Does it look at all like that (although my car was quite new when I took this so there is not much rust)

Would agree with previous posters. If the rust was appearing in the area covered by the pads thats the time to be concerned. Many years ago I had an Austin Allegro (no laughing please) whose front discs had a layer of porosity (poor casting) that was so bad they had to be skimmed on a lathe. Luckily they had enough thickness to allow this. Car was sold soon afterwards.
