Hi everyone, first post :)
Ok guys im currently looking at getting myself a new car and i have been looking at a 2nd hand 370z. The problem is from what i have been reading review wise, the 370z is very expensive to run on a day to day basis not to mention insurance, taxes etc. What i would like to know is just how expensive is it day to day? I figured this was the best place to get accurate info on the 370.

I currently drive a ford focus ST which averages 27 mpg, how does this compare to a 370?
The reason im so worried about the running costs is because i would hate to buy a 370z and end up having to sell due to not affording to keep it on the road. A 2nd hand 370z (around the £22-24000 mark) is a little above my price range but i cant help but want a 370, the car is increadible and its so exclusive.
Any info would be very much appreciated :)

Hi :welcometonissansportz:

I don't personally think they are an expensive car to run (for what it is). You can check out the dealer costs are here. So servicing is reasonable (every 9K miles by the way).

The biggest costs are:

* The tyres - they're big, so aren't cheap
* It's the highest road tax bracket so that'll hit your wallet to the tune of about £450 every year
* Insurance - obviously it depends on your circumstances but they group 19
* Fuel - well, it can be very thirsty if you drive it hard but you can easily get mid thirties on a run if you keep the speed down. I do a mixture of very short journeys and decent fast runs - I average about 27 too.

I hope that helps a bit :)

P.S. Buy one ;)

Thanks for the reply paul.
Thats something i seem to forget, the 370z is a 3.7L V6 :P
Getting 27 mpg sounds very reasonable to me but its the insurance im worried about, over £1200 a year :(
I have a lot of think to do..

Hiya :hello:

Shop around for insurance - without sounding rude, are you very young? Insurance can hit hard, but the joys of the 370Z are worth every penny :)

Paul_S and Chilli have summarized that pretty well

Insurance is the biggest cost, however, good deals can be had if you shop around ;)

I insured my old 370z at 21, for £1150. This was with Admiral, with 4 years no claims, 4 years driving experience, 10,000 per annum and fully comp.

I do hold a IAM Qualification which knocked off about £70.

Fuel Consumption I found was reasonable for a 3.7 V6! I averaged about 25 mpg most of the time, but my journeys were mainly urban. I did get 41 mpg on the way to the Christmas Party last year though :D

My 370z purchase was an impulse buy and to this day, I do not regret it. The 370z is an exclusive car (more GTR's have been sold in the UK than the 370z) and it isn't an Audi, BMW or Porsche which are more common than Herpes Simplex ;)

The only thing I do regret though was selling it

In reference to your insurance question - this will vary hugely - for example, I think I'm right in saying mine is the cheapest of everyone here at £291, but then I live in an A banded area, am an old(ish) git, married, home owner, full NCD etc etc
so I would say anywhere between this and £1200, but most appear to be around the £500 mark

I can get about 25 mpg with careful driving, over 30 while cruising on the motorway, 22 if ragging it.

On average I get anout 24, commuting 22 miles a day on semi urban roads.
