Well, Nissan did a special for the dealer (not sure why because Nissan are picking up the bill) and that was £9.5k

Regular punters get to pay more...

That's just ridiculous - how they can justify that sort of price-tag for a box of electronics is beyond me.

They used to be £19,000... and will blow up if you reverse the battery polarity.

Mine has been scrolling up and down tracks by itself so is getting changed under warranty.
They have to get access to the hard drive to get its code before they can order a replacement.
Funny you should say that. The hard disk on the failed unit no longer spins up so it's turning into a challenge getting the new unit paired with the car. That and the fact that the replacement unit is branded Infiniti and requires a full download to make it a Nissan unit...

How can those costs make sense? If your engine was to blow up I'll bet it would cost half of that to replace.

We're in the wrong business if that's what they're charging.

That is crazy - and totally unjustified. They'd get taken to court over that if it were me - how you can justify the electronics for the premium connect system costing more than a third of the retail value of the car?

Sounds like a business opportunity to me: a hard drive removal, copy and backup service.....

Sad but I think true with cars in general being so reliable manufacturers/dealers make their money from servicing, parts and accessories. Having said that the price quoted beggars belief.

Nissans policy along with many other manufacturers, dont want to sell spares, just cars, want all cars thrown away after 3-4 years & we buy new, Not really Eco friendly is it

That makes my new steering lock seem like bargain of the century at £1800!

Out of interest do Nissan offer extended warranty, and if so how much is it? Would it cover things such as steering lock and failed sat nav?
