This evening I jacked up the front, took off the undertray, drained the oil, disconnected the battery, removed the front wheels, and sprayed some WD40 on the drop links and anti roll bar.

Let's call it phase one

Whoo hoo! bring on the main event! Oil Cooler? some other bits too?

I have to do the oil cooler, front and rear anti roll bars, updated drop links and if I have time paint and decal the calipers. Seems unlikely before the Run2 Europe doesn't it?!

I'm not so sure. Starting the day with a hangover isn't the best idea!

It's going OK.  Wheel arch liners off, bumper off, laminova off, coolant pipe on.

Stopping for a cuppa!

The afternoon was a little mixed.

gallery_245_422_300013.jpg

It was looking good until I put the crash bar back on the car with the cooler fitted - to find that it wasn't in the right place and fowled on bits.  Anyway, persiverance paid off and the cooler is now fitted :)

Tomorrow I need to top up the coolant, put in some oil then start her up checking for leaks.

You gonna get that road kill out of your radiator before you rebuild it?

Haha, let's just say I'll be happy when it all fits back!

All looking good this morning - no leaks!  The thermostat on the cooler appears to kick in just over 70 (which is just after the gauge registers the oil temp too).  I'm not sure if that sounds a little early but I wouldn't really know!

I've also got the front anti-roll bar on now and am just having a cuppa before I start to put it all back together again.  But before I do put it back together I'm going to do a little mod so I can easily disable / enable those pesky headlamp washers.

As of last night the front end is back together.  That went well except for the wind blew my bumper over and it got grazed on the tarmac :blackeye:

One saving grace is that the Ventureshield saved the paint.  I think (if I'm very careful) I can cut a tiny section out of the vinyl to make it good again - luckily it's right on the edge.

So then I jacked up the back and removed the anti-roll bar and one drop link.  I then spent 2 hours trying to undo a single bolt on the other drop link before I gave up.  Battle will resume this morning  :hunter:

Well another 2 hours later and the nut was destroyed enough that it would let go

Rear anti-roll bar and drop links fitted.  All good :)

Did a mod (or maybe hack!) to disable the 370Z headlamp washers.  I also wrote a quick guide in the Members area :)

Nothing on Paul's scale of jobs but I had noticed my headlamp plastics were REALLY badly scratched (looking like someone had taken sandpaper to them) I tried to take photos but they didn't come out that well.

Has anyone else notice this on their headlights??

So ....... I purchased a Meguiar's  1 Step Headlight Restoration Plus kit .......... and WOW !!!!   Absolutely fantastic results even on the first pass !!   :kicking:

Very impressed and hope to make them even better on the next go (The wool pad needs cleaning and drying out to start again.)

It's a small pot of liquid paste and a wool buffer pad for your drill - it cost £20.
It also comes with sanding and finishing pads for "stubborn jobs" (I haven't used those).

I can really see and feel the difference in the lens surface before and after.

I use Meguiars PlastRX - not as sophisticated - just elbow grease required but seems to work.

I just checked and that's what the liquid is ... Plast-RX ..... So I guess I just purchased the "lazy pack" version that comes with drill attachment and less elbow grease is required !! :)
