Does that mean you have no assistance spring at all?  How heavy is the clutch without it?

The first go of the car after I had removed it, the clutch pedal definitely felt like more effort is required to depress it, but not much. I can't see it being anywhere near strenuous to drive. I did have to get used to the bite again, but within minutes adapted to it and can barely remember what is was like before. When I jump in it again next weekend I'll see if I still like it. There is no a huge difference to having the spring in place, but I think I prefer it without. Also, it got rid of a slight creak I had with my clutch pedal. I think the spring mechanism would of needed regreasing or the holes the pins pass through may be very slightly worn and elongated causing a creak when moved.

I washed my car (in the dark!) in preparation for the Christmas party this weekend.  It was so dirty and covered in saw dust (long story) there was no way I was going to take it to the event looking like that.

One advantage of washing the car in the dark is that it's much quicker because you can't see all the bits you've missed

well I removed my modified clutch assistance spring today and went back to stock spring

Yes the modified spring does improve the biting point and you can feel where it is but the trade off is if you do lots of town driving the clutch becomes heavy and tiresome

The stock pedal feel is vague but more pleasant for town driving , I'm kind of wishing I went auto in my Z as most of my commute is around town

I do enjoy the manual shifting but the Z is more suited to cross country and windy roads instead of town driving

I don't mind mine in traffic but I suppose I'm used to the clutch being heavy.  I think it's still lighter than my old 2004 350Z one.

I put my snow wheels & tyres on today.  It was too cold, wet and windy to clean the summer wheels before I put them away unfortunately so I'll have to remember they need some TLC before I put them back on.

installed weighted shifter, what a difference! shifting feels much better now and more effortless, only downside is that the knob is freezing in our current conditions! can see I destroyed my old knob haha!

Where did you get it from? As I fancy a weighted shifter for the 350 as an early new year pressie, and otherwise have my eye on one of the blingy ones from the hyphen forum.
2004 Yaris 1.3 - A strong engine, good steering and great brakes, but its foolish owner fancies a change.
2007 350Z - Who needs Blue Planet when you've got a Blue Zed?

Is it likely to get very hot in the Summer, too? Sounds like it might be an idea to ask someone for a pair of lightweight driving gloves for Xmas?

I use 2 types of glove - the ultra cheap stretchy/woolly gloves with little rubber pimples on the palm & fingers (excellent for grip) and a pair of Aldi work gloves with rubberised fronts, that I've turned into 'fingerless' ones, so I can operate the touchscreen (just cut a couple of fingers off - the gloves, not my hand).

That's a nice looking gearknob, could you share where you got it from?

My stock knob used to rotate slightly so when last in at Nissan the Tech loaded it with Locktight....I fear that it may not come off any time soon.

For the cold, I know a few people that use the little knitted hats from Innocent Smoothie bottles....

Well I also fitted a weighted shifter , man what a difference in feeling over the stock knob

You make me feel slightly better too I also destroyed my stock gearknob too , snapped a ratchet strap trying to twist it off !

I cannot see how you could have removed mine without damage , even being careful with padding the leather just peeled off the gearknob

Those who have removed without damage were very lucky!!

Chas, you are not alone. Many run their Zeds as stock, or very close to. I stopped after installing a pair of K & N panel filters 2 Zeds ago. Each to their own.

I seem to recall when I changed the gear knob  on my 350Z I used an old towel wrapped around it a few times and an adjustable spanner.  It was tight, but not so tight that I damaged it and couldn't put it back on again when I sold the car.
