A few coats of wax applied on a monthly basis has that benefit too. If the paintshield improves on that, the bugs must literally fall off Jeffs' front.

And the car cleans easily, too!

Gives you more time to concentrate on your front, then.   :blush2:

Despite still feeling crap (no pun intended) I fitted new brake pads all round, cleaned the retaining pins and shims up and gave them a nice coating of coppa slip and gave the calipers a thorough clean too.

I gave Millie a nice new bottom. Carbon fibre diffuser, and a smoky fog/reverse/brake light.

Woof!  I like that a lot.

I'd really love to see you start a thread devoted to just that, as it looks like a really nice job and and a really nice mod and I''d like to see and learn a little more about it. :)

Just a quick job last night.  I fitted my wipers with some replacement blades (as per this thread --> http://forums.nissan...iper-refills/).

The Nissan part numbers are as follows:

370Z Driver side wiper refill (21") - 28895-1EAOA
370Z Passenger side wiper refill (19") - 28895-JFO1A

I eventually had chance to get the car looking some thing like presentable after the builders left a week ago. They used the garage for storage so I had to park the Zed outside next to their skip for 4 weeks.

I had managed to do one clean while they were here, but hadnt realised that the pure water filter needed replenishing, so the water marks burnt in really well as it was full sun and 30 degrees.

Only iPhone photos, but here we go:

Apologies for the orientation of the pics, but I hope you can see the results of a days work (and man, was it hot).

Spent yesterday morning on my Z. Sorted out my driveline click although didn't have to paste just re torqued to spec the hub nuts and all is good. I wanted to take the driveshafts out, repaste and rotate but I was having trouble with some of the fasteners on my tie bars, bracing.

So much trouble, I decided they were coming off there and then and I'm making up some aftermarket bracing and fitting some new fastening hardware. Two of the original bolts were knakered and one of the two sheared it was that rusted in place.

Blimey, that sounds like a right PITA.  Well done though mate!

I guess you didn't take any pics, but if you could post up a few tips on how to do the job that would be great and benefit all :)

Thanks Paul. I was trying to work on two cars. Silly idea.

No pics from yesterday. Working in that heat was hard work.

The tie bars and w brace in theory, are very easy to remove just a few 12mm bolts that you can access nearly all of them without lifting the car. Except for the 4 x central bolts on the w brace.... Easy, providing your bolts are healthy and not rusted in!

This was average, some were better, some worse.

IvXtaFc.jpg

I used a irwin bolt extractor socket to remove the badly damaged bolts (except for one). If I had a slightly smaller extractor the last one should go aswell.

63045.jpg

One bolt head I managed to shift with a pair of stilsons.

Sad fact, why is it you find yourself needing a particular tool just as you've loaned it out to someone else. :(     (impact gun)

Click wise - I followed the guidelines in the service manual for my driveshaft click. I wanted to take them out completely, clean, repaste and rotate but the tie bars need to be removed and when the bolts were not playing I turned my attention to them. Although re torquing the hub nuts to spec worked, for now.

Very good mate!

I remember the bolts on my W brace were tricky little "things" to remove when I took it off a few years ago.

Thankyou Paul.

I wanted to add a diff fluid change for this coming weekend but probably wont have time. Plan to get my original w brace restored along with the cross brace and tie bars. Good news is very little rust to the original metal at this stage on the parts I've cleaned up so far. Cleaning back to shiny, solid metal quite nicely. :)

Are you planning to refurb the W brace yourself? If so, how will you do it/what will you use? I hate the fact that they rust so quickly (along with all the other underneath bits that rust too).

Its a tricky item to do properly so Ideally blasting would be the best way. Its still on the car at the moment as I'm waiting for my 12mm extractor to arrive to get the last bolt out. Its not set in stone yet but the plan is to either find somewhere locally that can bead blast or alternatively strip disc it on the surface bits and then a grinding wheel wire brush in the harder to reach areas. Much Harder/time consuming work. If it pays off I will most likely use rustmaster epoxy mastic 121 as that stuff has served me well in the past as it seems to cling really well and not chip. Being slightly OCD I'd prefer a more satin or semi gloss finish as Its more gloss but thats just me being me.

Failing that, I am already looking into oval flat sided tubing to make an aftermarket effort similar to that of ultra racing. That would take quite possibly less time and effort.lol   I do like the idea of saving and retaining the original, though.

I've been eyeing up titanium fasteners aswell.

PS. Just ordered redline 75w90 LSD fluid.. Looks like a busy weekend ahead!
