I just hope the new Z doesn't rely on electronic crap as much as the Q60. I like a more pure, simple, less 'techy' car. All these different driving modes and electronic steering gadgetry leave me cold. And it just means there's more expensive stuff to go wrong. Hoping that Nissan get it right for me with the Z, but not holding my breath.

I think some tech is good but it's when it takes pleasure and feedback away from the driver I'd like to draw the line.

I think (and hope) the next generation Z car will stay a little more old school than the Infiniti.

I have to agree - but I do think the next Zed could do with a bit more driver telemetery data like the GTR - the Digital Speedo returning (back to the 350z) and a Digital Radio!  Not full on new Civic Type R Dash which looks like someone has been watching too much star trek.

Quite like the front, with its big holes, evil eyes and sculpted shapes. Hate the rear - very disappointing.

Edit - to elaborate - the big gay wing looks totally out of place, the rear is too squared off and the arrangement those tailpipes and fins is just offensive to the eye.

Yes, I like that a lot too.

It's great to see the Generation 7 Celica shoulder crease lives on on another Japanese coupe.

I just wish the Infiniti came with such a pleasingly interactive transmission. Hey-ho.

Terrifyingly true.

The more I look at it, the more that rear spoiler is saying BGW to me. I wonder if you save anything by having it deleted?  Or better still, could you swap it for a third pedal . . ?

There's another article on the Black S here :)

Someone commented on the article and said something very interesting:

I can see this being a basis for the next GTR drivetrain.

That does ring true don't you think?  There is lots of talk of the next GT-R being a hybrid.

I'm not sure how I feel about that.  I would rather see the next GT-R built from scratch and then ideas from it filtering lower down the food chain rather than the other way around.  But, then again, with a hybrid system I can see it makes less difference perhaps?

I have been mulling over the recent posts and trying to decide how I can respond tactfully and diplomatically...... I have failed, so....

This has been building up in me since the launch of the MY17 GT-R. The external styling changes seem to be fiddling for fiddlings sake. The fact that there had been a very similar bodykit available in the USoA for a couple of years previously hasn't helped my view. I understand that to increase the engine BHP they need more cooling, which needed a bigger grill, which disturbed the airflow... but I'm not convinced what they ended up with a the front (or the back) wasn't just following fashion (and as we all know there is big difference between Fashion and Style - you don't have to be fashionable to be stylish). It all looks a bit like they are following someones else's lead (e.g. Toyota & Lexus). If I lked the Lexus styling I'd buy one.

I think all of the above applies to the Q60s pictures. In addition, those DRLs in the headlights - where did they get them from? I presume that Seat had overstocked their new Leon parts bin and decided to offload the stock. Just because others do something doesn't mean you have to follow.

And that Rear Wing is just silly - remember the 911 picnic table?

Design departments should be doing evolution and style. There probably could have been some tweaks to the below but there was nothing fundamentally wrong with this:

WP_20140629_001.jpg IMG_0374.JPG IMG_0375.JPG IMG_0373.JPG IMG_0372.JPG

There's definitely some design departments with too much time on their hands, and even then all they can do is copy others.

There, I've said it. Nissan & Infiniti should be leading - not following.

p.s. And those pictures were from Goodwood the year that the 370Z NISMO was launched in the UK.
