The Rear Wing behind the Air Box is straight out of LMP1.....

I prefer the Merc and Ferrari design if I am honest.  Out of all of them - I suspect those who will be quickest.  Look how clever the Merc has been with their rear desgin.  Even the Ferrari design is very clever.

McLaren....  Not so sure.  Horrible Colour and the Car design is a little well Odd.

Rumour has it the Merc fin was only for the press launch and that it will be more like the others at the first race (but it doesn't seem so in testing)....

The cars aren't as good looking as I was expecting, and like Les I prefer the Merc as it (mostly) lacks the silly fin above the engine cover.  In the main they're better than the last couple of years' cars, but not quite as good looking as the pre-hybrid era cars, with the wider front and rear wings.

It's also a shame to see some of them have returned with anteater noses, which were abominably ugly when they first appeared a few years ago and I was hoping we'd seen the last of them.  Although it might be interesting to find out why some have returned with them, and why the Red Bull's has a hole in the nose.  Surely Daniel Ricciardo isn't getting so old he's suffering hot flushes now?

Another thumbs down for the silly extended fins and as others have said, I'm already reading that the cars will look quite different in some cases come the first race. But it's great that they're back and I have F1 in my life again  :kicking: ( I hate the winter off-season  )

Agreed. The fins are ugly. I bet the sponsors will love them though.

I don't know how much wider the cars are but it might prove even more tricky to find room to pass on the narrower circuits. I wonder how long it will take for the drivers to adjust to leaving enough room when battling wheel to wheel.

An interesting and valid point Paul. Depending on who you listen to, there are those that say because we have more aero dependency on ground effects and wider tyres, the cars will be able to follow closer, however some disagree with that because the cars have more aero overall so think it won't be any different.

Then because of the faster cars though aero and tyres, you will have shorter braking distances and some corners that you may have had a dab of the brakes on, will now be flat (eg Barcelona turn 3), therefore, that makes overtaking in the braking area more difficult.

The big unknowns at the moment from what I've seen are twofold. The first is the tyres; Pirelli have been tasked with a more durable tyre for this year that is less susceptible to over wearing due to heat, however, until the tests, no-one really knows how they will perform. The second is that extra g-force and pressures on the drivers. They've all had to bulk up for this season as there will be over 1G extra force on them in certain corners (think Becketts, Maggots complex at Silverstone) so there may be mistakes from drivers or perhaps tiring towards the end. They certainly think the driver will be able to muscle the car more and will have a bigger effect than the last couple of years.

I for one am just glad that there has been a bit of a shake up and I hope that it's a cracking season and we see Lewis back at the top. I'm watching pre-season testing with interest.

It's overtaking that makes racing interesting to watch, not raw speed. If the changes make overtaking harder, this season could be duller. Hopefully not. Time will tell. I must say that I like the looks of the cars.

Yes, I've read and feared that the higher cornering speeds and slightly lower straight line speeds may reduce overtaking.  That said, I also agree with the point that the increased stresses on drivers may increase fatigue and make the late stages of races a bit more interesting.

I'm pleased to see the tyres look like they're lasting a bit longer, or at least not peaking too early and then quickly tailing off.
