Just bought a 370Z and pick it up Saturday, so having looked around this seems a friendly Forum.

I originally intended spending less on an older 370Z but for better or worse I have bought a white base model registered in March 2017 with 350 miles on the odometer. This was from my local Aldershot Nissan dealership who had used it as a demonstrator since March.

Perhaps I should have bought an older GT or Nismo version but the thought of an almost new car at a reduced price swung it for me.

If I am honest I was looking for an older one as I cannot afford a new GT or Nismo 370Z.

Hello Sharky :welcometonissansportz:

You are right, we are quite a friendly bunch :)

Congratulations on your new mota   It sounds like you probably got a bargain!

I used to know the difference between the base models and GT cars from a few years ago.  I expect the gap has closed a bit since then :)

Hello and welcome.  :welcome:

I hope you enjoy it, and it will be good to see pictures.

Welcome, Sharky :)

370s look beautiful in white. I think the best thing about the base model is that it's possible to upgrade the stereo &/or speakers quite easily, should you want to, in the future. This upgrade is not nearly as easy on the other models, because of the restrictions imposed by the Bose amplifier. It will be interesting to get a report on what you think of the base stereo - I've never heard one.

The base model gives you pretty much everything else you get on the GT model, so congratulations & ENJOY :)

Owning a new car is a lovely experience - plus you get almost 3 years Nissan warranty, which is more than you'd have got with an older GT model. I've often been tempted by the thought of an upgradeable base model, but they're as rare as hens' teeth.

...actually I'm starting to want your car :)

I picked it up today and of course its raining which highlighted to me that the base model does not even have a rear wiper. Will have to try a bottle of Rain X  :(.

Don't get me wrong not disappointed as to me the rear looks cleaner without the wiper.

Apart from that all is good and because its on finance I am apparently getting 2 free services.

I will post a picture when the weather cheers up.

Interesting that you say the civic was revvy as there are a lot of revs to play with on the Zed. Especially if you in the wrong gear.

Like all Japanese horses, they are well disciplined and in good shape.  It's just that a Zed has a few more of them, and they have a bit more muscle.

Lovely :)

I quite like the non-GT wheels (and the rubber is a heck of a lot cheaper I'm sure!)

Also, just to say about the differences, you have the same engine, power train, and brakes as the GT model.  But you don't have the heavy and complicated power seats so yours is probably a bit quicker

I like the person on the left hand side of the first picture, sobbing gently into the garage door, because they've got a hatchback.

...I like the wheels too. It's a lovely looking car.

Looks lovely mate.  Not sure there are massive differences you have Synro Mode now don't you?  Have you got a rear wiper?  Same engine.  Same G/Box - lots of things are the same that matter.

Actually, the rear wiper does confuse me.  I think that is standard on any UK car.  But I guess that may have changed :?:

Edit: are you the first owner?

This has prompted me to refresh my memory, regarding what extras you get on the GT pack:

Screen Shot 2017-07-31 at 06.41.29.png

To my mind, the following items are the only significant differences between Standard & GT Pack...

1. 19" wheels - I like a larger wheel, although I must say I like the styling of the 18".

2. Leather/alcantara seats - I have cats and their hairs are never to be seen on leather/alcantara, unlike cloth, which seems to attract them from nowhere.

3. The USB port - I love my USB music stick.

4. Speed Limiter - very useful in Average Speed Check areas. It takes the stress out of driving at 50 or 70.

5. Rear Wiper - I hated the lack of a rear wiper on the BMW. Don't ask me why, but I like the ability to see the nit behind me who's driving too close.

6. Active Noise Control (ANC) - It works, meaning you don't have to fit sound deadening material.

7. The touch screen sat nav - to be honest, I don't use sat nav much, but I like to have it there and the Nissan Connect system is nicely intuitive - and it tells me if there's a speed camera coming up.

8. Reversing Camera - if I didn't have one, I'd buy Paul_S's kit and fit it. In fact, it would be my 2nd mod (after tinting the windows) :)

9. Voice Recognition - I like to shout at my car and get a response.

And here are the GT Pack 'extras' I could easily live without...

Hill Start Assist - I learned how to do a hill start nearly 50 years ago, thank you. It's not that hard!

Heated Seats - waste of money.

Cruise Control - don't make me laugh!

Active Sound Enhancement (ASE) - fake fake fake exhaust noise, but it's saved me worrying about buying a proper exhaust, for a while.

9gb Music Hard Drive - 9gb of it remains unused.

Gear Position Indicator - hahahhahaaa.

Seat Back Pockets - does ANYONE use them?

All in all, I like the 'blank canvas' feel of the standard car, which is why I'm slightly jealous of Sharky.
