If anyone ever needs to order new Boot Springs for the 370z Nismo V1.  The part number is:  H44151A30C

This is a different part number to the normal 370z - which often gets posted around the web and had a lower spring rating.  Wonder what the difference would be on a GT with the Nismo ones.  Perhaps at an event one day we could try my old ones.

Thanks for the part number.

That is a VERY good idea.

Just engineering this a little more.  In the US they put a penny in the two recess the plastic lug drops into.  I have put a stick on rubber foot like you would use under a glass coffee mat.  Early tests indicate a lot less creaks and one press boot release.  Will carry on testing it.

That's brilliant - I never thought of using the little stick-on rubber (or foam) feet, even though I've used them for all sorts of other things.  I'm still happy with my US cents, but I'll keep the stick-on feet in mind for future use.

Here is what I have done still zero creaking. Understand cars with heavy rear wings are prone to it.a759e61ce904d921144bfb42086a9d99.jpg157bba2cdb8b0e399c08b265123dc976.jpgdf8f516ee7481631803027e9541d5ed7.jpg

No creaks - and, more importantly, presumably no leaks?

No leaks I washed it last night after I added them, and poured water over the back.  But I have got a very heavy rear wing pushing the little pads down so I would say experiments is the key.

Just driven home - and its so quiet... :teeth:

Good work.  Leaks?  Is the concern from the pads (potentially) raising the lid higher than the seal allows?  It sounds like it from the reference to the heavy spoiler.

Thinking about it, mine might have a similar creak so I might have a look for some very thin pads or some thick sticky tape.  That said, I'm sure you must have tried my usual solution: in heavy traffic ignore it; and, when it's quiet turn up the volume with the right foot as opposed to the left hand. :teeth:

Hahaha I tried that.  Made ti worse as I hit the bumps fatser and harder.

The noise was like a batch of rodents playing with a nut in the boot.  With the Nismo suspension it was constant.  I tried the Stereo - but you find yourself switching it off to try and work out what the noise is.  Aparently there is a fair amount of adjustment on the Hoop connected to the boot lid which also fixes it, but I am not going to dismantle the car to find out thats wrong.  It probably does increase the lid bit my a few mm.  The Rubber around the boot is over a CM.  You can also see where that has been compressed over time.

I initially read the first sentence of your second paragraph above as ". . . like a batch of rodents playing with a nun in the boot".  I'd like to know what a dealership would make of that description.

I'm thinking the hoop adjustment would just involve removing a bit of trim and screwing it down or loosening it up a bit, but I agree with your thinking on giving it a miss.  It would annoy me though, and I'd forever be tempted to have a look at it.

I have asked the rodents to move out.  Only time will tell if they do or not...  :D

I thought it apt...  I kept looking back expecting to see something running around.  I stripped the boot out.  Tightened eveything I could tighten and in the end - I thought - well if you can stop it perhaps you can add damping...  The Nismo suspension would shake a tooth out.

I think it does involve removing trim and as I understand it there is a risk of breaking the fixings - thats a dealer thing.

It sounds like a job for a hot day, with a bit of extra heat from a hairdrier, and some decent trim removal tools (e.g. Paul S's).  If ever I want to remove any trim I usually rely on the first two, and little gets broken.

Again, that said, if you've found other ways to remove the rodents, their nuts, and their nuns, and it works then so much the better.

Here is the difference between a spring that has been on the car nearly 4 years and a new one....f6a92db409f128f2686699845f0b5dc7.jpg

New one is definitely less compressed and with the other mod which should take the pressure off no noises anymore.
