Hi
Having had the zed for few months the cheapo tyres just don't cut the mustard !
Any recommendations for good all weather rubber ?
Always used Pirelli zeros but don't know whether to maybe switch to continental sports as they are highly rated .
What do you guys think ?
Cheers

I've been very happy with my Michelin Pilot Super Sports since I changed from the standard Bridgestone's.

Hi and welcome! :welcometonissansportz:

What tyres are on it at the moment mate?

I'm not a fan of the Nissan-standard Bridgestone tyres (they're like plastic rather than rubber when they get cold).

I'm currently running Vredestein which I like :)

Michelin Pilot Sport 4 and Continental SportContact 6.

I have Michelin Pilot Super Sport but I think they are not made now and the Pilot Sport 4 has replaced it.

They sound scary!

Someone once said to me that tyres are the one thing keeping you on the road and scrimping on them isn't a good idea!

Often the budget tyres do badly when it comes to stopping distances (especially in the wet).  If you read tyre reviews the stopping distances can vary one heck of a lot.  I like the idea of tyres that will stop to car soonest!

If I was looking for all weather tyres for a big, fairly quick, RWD car like a Zed, I'd go for Contis or Vredesteins too.

2004 Yaris 1.3 - A flexible engine that likes a few revs, a slightly agricultural gearbox, and will wag its tail with a deft lift - it's basically a small Zed.
2007 350Z - Less a car, more a piece of pornography.

It begs the question, why buy budget tyres for a car like this?

Personally I`m looking at Pilot Sport 4`s though the fronts seem hard to come by at the moment, MPSS are still available too but for how long I don`t know.

I spoke to Michelin recently, and MPSS's are still in production, so should be around for a while yet.

Michelin Pilot Sport 4S are supposed to be the best you can get, but they don't do them in the correct size for the front of the zed.  Apparently they are releasing more sizes at some point, at which time I'm seriously considering upgrading from my stock potenzas.

I had Continental 6's on the rear for a few months until I got a puncture and replaced them (months after getting a puncture on my Hankook).  They were good tyres - much faster wear rate than Bridgestone (which are hard) and Hankook.

MPS are regarded as the best over all - Conti's are supposed to be a close second to the previous MPS - but MPS4 is supposed to be a step forward.   Shame we cannot get a full set though yet, I could get rears on the Nismo only.  Currently I am back on Skip Happy Bridgestones on the Rear and Hankook Evo's on the front.

I use Falken FK 452's on my 350z, much better than Bridgestones and comparable to tyres twice the price

Think they have been superseded by FK453's but still available in a lot of sizes.
