Regular friday evening visits to the Manor House pub had an upstairs room where Manfred Mann, complete with vocalist Paul Jones, performed all eveing. This was well before Ready Steady Go used their track of 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 as their intro music...

And of course there was Eel Pie Island and the upcoming Rolling Stones...

...and Paul Jones is still touring today - brilliant blues harp player - one of this country's best.

Funnily enough a couple of years ago he was playing a gig at Goring-on-Thames village hall which I got tickets for. When I arrived he was in the lobby flogging a new CD of his songs and in a quiet moment I mentioned to him the last time I'd seen him live was at the Manor House circa 1963. Quick as a flash he replied:

"You need to get out more!"

Slightly off topic i am going to see the Macc lads again tonight last seen Aug 1989 on the famous or maybe not so famous 'One Foot In the Gravy' tour, i make that about 29 years ago. :D

Excellent choice, Wakefield has sold out this year but I believe they are playing Leeds early next year so that is on my list.

I saw them twice in Leeds in the late 80`s, it was a riot

I think they have dirt box disco with them in Leeds Gav C if so they will be one night to remember. If it was not so far I would be going for sure

Ah music, don't get me started, probably my favourite topic, even more so than cars. In fact if I spent less on music/gigs I'd probably spend a bit more time and money on the car. It's not so much the gigs themselves but living in the a*** end of nowhere it's the travelling that costs.

I'll try and keep it short so as not to bore you all.

First gig: Ozzy Osbourne Leeds Uni 1983. (I did also see Whitesnake at Queens Hall in Leeds, but it would have been Feb 84)

Last gig: YMAS last night in Birmingham, although I was there as much for the support acts The Xcerts and Marmozets.

Best gig: Hard to pick over a 35 year timespan, but The Treatment Christmas show in Cambridge a couple of years ago will live long in the memory.

Biggest gap between seeing a band again: A rare foray into seeing a big band (ie: spending more than about 15 quid for a ticket) I saw ELO, well Jeff Lynn's incarnation, earlier this year, the last time I saw 'them' was 1986, just a 32 year gap.

To keep it on topic, my pic of the day, the back of my head at a recent gig by Lonely The Brave, their first in  over a year after a change of singer, actually that would probably be up there as an all time favourite gig too - If I'd been nice I'd have let my bald and much shorter mate stand in front of me, but I'm not, so he isn't ;)

Chas I saw the Marmozets a few weeks ago in Southend. To be honest wasn't that fussed before I went but great band and one of the best gigs I have been to lately. She has so much stage precence and talent. I could talk this BS all day long I love it as much as cars. I say every time never again can't be bothered with the hassle and travelling to the gigs, typing this on a train on the way to a gig. Picture attached of the legend Charlie harper who I met last week and shared a cider with a true gent a689cdf83e02ad8d1341feae9c071e34.jpg

One of my favourite sixties American girl groups - Martha Reeves and the Vandellas - still doing the small clubs, this time in 2016.

2007 350Z (my second Zed) - You'll get there when you get there, and that'll be fine. It's a better way to travel, and a much nicer way to live.
2011 Yaris 1.33 (my third Yaris) - With an extra 30cc and an extra gear it's become the S-Class of small cars.  Better gearbox though.

Going small again, and following on from Paul_S's picture of Brian Blessed a few weeks' ago, here's someone else who's been on Pointless Celebrities - Brix Smith Start, and her band The Extricated, mostly comprised of ex-members of The Fall (and in fact mostly ex-Fall bass players) who were at their best playing old Fall songs . . .

A very half-hearted rainbow off the east coast this afternoon.  It can stay there, although it did look quite beautiful.

Thanks Vicky.  Yes, you've got it.  It seems to begin from where the small, narrow wave is breaking.
