Thank you yes I love her markings too. How can you tell she's only a year old? She is over four foot long. I am at the very least the fourth owner. She's a great snake, very calm3360686600ecfdbe65ae3b4cd957c3c3.jpg

.

You can tell by the size, the strength of the colour, the contrast of the colours, the size of her head, the thickness of her body,  the brightness of her eyes the general overall look and I am no stranger to reptiles.

Animals/ reptiles are very much like us, you have a certain look at different times of your life.

Royal Pythons are a favourite with first time buyers, they are very tame, docile, calm and predictable.

They make outstanding pets, particularly with people who suffer from skin allergies, hay fever, respiratory problems, and asthma of various types.

They have other attributes, you don't have to walk them in the rain, you can go on holiday for two weeks without worrying about them, If she bites you, you wont contract rabies and lots more.

She will cost only pennies to feed, her food can be bought these days in a balanced diet pre-packed 'sausage' form, no mess.

They are beautiful to handle, they are not wet, slippery or slimy.

Her hatchlings will sell for about £200 each if she has little ones.

Have I said enough?

I wasn't doubting you, I was just wondering how you came to that conclusion! I knew you must know what you're talking about, and obviously I had no clue. Being over 4 ft long, and the spotty history we were told when we were giving her made me think she was definitely several years old. I'm glad to hear she's most likely pretty young, having a pet for 30 years would be pretty awesome

Yes this is a very low maintenance pet. And very calm.

As far as hatchlings go the local large box pet stores sell them for $60. And besides I wanted an easy low maintenance pet haha, breeding sounds like a major chore. Would be a pretty cool thing to watch though

I only asked if -I had said enough- in case you wanted to know more.

I said they were difficult to breed, but once you know how, it is very easy,

snake breeders won't tell you but the secret with Royals is to put more than one male in with the female.

$60 are you in the States?

It is real cool to see them coming out of the egg, they are beautiful little things, they just get a lot of unfair bad press.

they have been around for 350,000,000. years, that is quite a feat.

Yes I am in the states. My brother and his wife already have several reptiles and I enjoyed going over there and handling them. When they were given this one, they asked me if I wanted her because they already had too many. So I kind of had to learn some stuff as I went along, but she seems pretty happy and healthy.
She definitely has a better life. Previous owners didn't know how to keep her warm enough, and her tank was pretty bare. It's been fun adding stuff to her tank and watching her enjoy it. I built a shelf as a headboard so I can watch her when she's out at night0bbbf511319794fa003b4a297e364e5e.jpgd3d56b50fbf90d4629fcb2412644d5c9.jpgc97531837739aa111799e2b24a8afdc6.jpg

mous(e)saka or ratatouille for tea...
our snake's meal time :-)
ratatouille.jpg

I'll get some good photos of the wee beasties next time they're out of their viv's :-)
Even though my corn snake is nearly into double figures agewise he can only eat pinkies/fluffs or we have regurg issues with him, nearly lost him a couple of years ago, but since feeding multiple small mice he's doing ok !!

The pet store guys recommended I feed my snake something a little bigger than what she had been eating, so she gets a medium rat. Thankfully I don't have too many issues feeding her, except sometimes she eats them tail first. Ha
I build a simple stand for her out of some stools and a dog bed that she can't get off of so she gets to hang out with us quite a bit. Dogs get excited when I first bring her out but they calm down right away. The cat just sits and watches her.70892a7694a7585b3d083b670927acbd.jpg881b5955f1d45734b22af5b668cc0bb5.jpgb0f2d2d1d09ee8cf7eecf7dde2b2e150.jpg644b364f3d1901f0cee3647d9faed98d.jpg89f2204f5443b3ecff8bf856c4997739.jpg

Abbotsbury gardens again.... this time looking through an 8mm fisheye lens, note how the trees either side appear to be curling around the frame of the picture.

Then there is a picture from out the back of my house looking across the sky, this picture also has not been edited, i just upped the camera settings to make the colours "bleed"
