Well, after an excellent Full English Breakfast at the Harvester, Milton Keynes, we set off to compare exhausts by taking a 30-minute trip to Tring
Paul's exhaust was a clear winner. Although we both have the same model, his car has UpRev, his exhaust isn't new, so it's developed some excellent loud crackles and his gaskets are going home (though I'm not convinced they were the reason for the awesome noise he made).
Sean led the way to Tring in his cute red Abarth - a nippy little machine.
At Tring we spent a fun hour in the Stuffed Animals Museum. It's even better than I remember it. Then we went to a hardware shop in the town centre and bought two excellent fly swatters and a wooden spatula. What a profitable trip. We then headed back to MK for the Karting.
The venue is nothing short of excellent - friendly staff, clean equipment, evenly-matched karts that were quick enough for us and a good track. After qualifying we had a good, long race, deservedly won by Bikeracer (excellent tussle we had there, for 14 of the laps), with Paul in 2nd and Sprucey's lad, Kris in 3rd. I managed to get both fastest lap and slowest lap (due to spinning and needing a track marshall to get me out of the tyres). Everyone was drenched in sweat and happy at the end of it. The consensus was we'd do it again tomorrow!
It was good to see you again, Paul.
...and to meet you, Sean.
Sarah & Cathy were great company.
What a lovely soft-top you have there, Sprucey.
...and an excellent son - he's a credit to you.
Wow, Bikeracer - your supercharged black V2 Nismo is awesome! Hope you didn't get pestered by any soppy little beemers on the way home.
I had an amazing day - thank you everyone. I took a slow pootle home along the M1, thinking of all the stuffed animals we'd seen - like the ones in the pics above. Sorry I didn't get any photos of you guys.
