Excellent!! I wait with baited breath, a rusting W brace, and a tingling wallet.

You and your tingling wallet! At least you've trained it to tingle at the right times.

I cannot be 100% sure of the make of the one I have however this looks very much the same with the same Blue Vacuum pipe.

There are two valves in my system.  But everything else looks the same cannot say if its a 3" or 4" valve used.

Thanks for the link, Lesmo :)

I would expect it to be 2.5" max for a twin set.

Sub,d to this thread. I discovered this forum entirely from searching for aftermarket W brace support. I have been tempted to try out the Ultra Race piece but I haven't found anyone who has tried it. Not convinced enough to be the guinea pig.

Welcome to the Owners Club Big! It would be great if you start up a new thread to introduce yourself and your Z :)

Ok guys, should have something to show in the next day or so. Its similar to the UltraRacing but perhaps a little more substantial. The mounting plates are maybe a little thicker than necessary.  Obviously I will be putting it straight onto my Z to trial it for a week or so. Will get some pics sorted, soon. :)

Everything cut and drilled. Just need to clean, deburr and shape things so they look better. Make sure its all nice and square and weld it up.

Here is a quick pic. I'm going to try some POR15 on mine just to see how it handles such a vulnerable spot on the car.

The profile is the same as the stock item, 20mm in height so no closer to the ground.

Looks like a lovely piece of metal - shame it's rarely seen.

Its only fair to update you guys on this. I had planned to finish this brace and have it on the car this weekend. However, I've put my back out again, although feeling better today I dont want to risk making things worse. I might do something with it tomorrow if I'm feeling brave.

Why don't you kill two birds with one stone by installing the W brace on your back?

I hope you get well - or at least get a bit more back comfort - really soon, as that looks like a terrific piece of work.

2007 350Z (my second Zed) - When you give up driving, you’re not going to look back wistfully on the car you owned with the nicest dashboard top or speaker grilles. You’re going to remember a car for its excitement and how it made you feel.
2011 Yaris 1.33 (my third Yaris) - With an extra 30cc and an extra gear it's become the S-Class of small cars.  Far less pretentious though.

Small update

Contacted powder coaters last week. Nice and local to me. Assuming some would be interested in alternative colours so I've enquired about that too.

I've done a little more work on my brace. Not made life easy for myself and a V2 is already planned. Currently making my own "u" plates from scratch using steel sheets. A very long winded way of doing things so looking to get some u section lengths this will cut the time and importantly cost down as much as poss.

Back is a bit, meh but I'm doing what I feel comfortable with right now.

Test fitted weekend just gone. Alterations needed as I am trying to make it as good a fit as possible. W

What I found was the exhaust heatshield on the 370 atleast, is corrugated and I dont like bodging something original on the car to make something non original fit. I notice this with the aftermarket intakes where people seem happy to cut away parts of the aperture just to fit the pipes through. This is not something I do, personally.

So, I need to look into making the front plates differently and perhaps raise the tubing 5mm to give decent clearance from the saddle tanks.

keep you posted.

Good stuff mate.  It's a shame you're having to modify it to make it 100% but I guess that's the name of the game and we'll all benefit from it!

I'm still excited about this project!

I'd already posted up pics yesterday but the brace is now on the car. I drove the car yesterday to make sure eveything was ok and this morning again to get the car MOT'd.

I will be making more of these still I'm sure, but I dont want to promise any timescale as Its taken me this long to make one. I also want to make brake cooling kits and valvetronic exhausts at some point.
