Congrats on another successful MOT

I don't mind the new Wheels to be honest its just a iteration.  I haven't seen really a wheel I don't like on the Zed.

I have seen a V1 turned into a V2 but not the other way around.    I like the darker handles on the 67 plate as well.  thats a nice touch.    Interesting about the seats I have sat in them, but I have never driven a car with them, I always suspect due to my more robust frame (huc hum) - I may not suit them.  You would have also had a lot harder suspension on the Nismo which would not have helped your back either.

Interesting, if you like the colour I cannot see it matters - what colour would you have if you could have it?

John - I prefer your wheels too. They're miles better for a 370z. The new wheels are appalling.

I'm also with you on the Recaros. Give me a comfy, adjustable seat, anyday.

I made some copper exhaust gaskets to replace the knackered ones on my Invidia Gemini.

I took the Nismo in to Norton Way first thing this morning for them to secure the front number plate holder and number plate (previous owner had the plate direct on the front)

Got called in to the workshop, uh oh!, to find her on a ramp, with an admiring audience. A health check had been performed, and im pleased to say there was nothing to report that I didnt already know. It was good to see underneath her for myself.

Then spent a while talking to the technicians, the salesman that I did the test drives with a couple of weeks back, the dealership boss and the ladies that do the paperwork. I think they were as smitten as I am!

All in all, a good return for £25!

Les, Deans waiting to hear the exhaust!

Treated the car to some new front tyres - to be fitted on Wednesday. Michelin Pilot Sport 4 - £324 the pair, fitted & balanced, from Protyre.

Apparently, buying 2 Michelin tyres qualifies me to claim for a 'special offer' Michelin TPMS kit (they say it's worth £100 - lol). https://gb.michelin-...ent-system-tpms

If I actually get it I'll fit it to the campervan wheels.

For a vehicle without TPMS that's the best thing I have seen.  Its very clever.

It should ride a bit better with all that removed from the springs, also the front will have dropped - so you have a lower ride height.

So you had all 6 then.

Who was the original supplying dealer? If it was me I'd phone them to let them know they've got numpties on the payroll.

...and hopefully save other customers from the same issue.

Not today but at at the weekend, my oldest son and I took the Zed to the last round of the British GT races at Donington Park.  We stayed over so we could go to both qualifying on the Saturday as well as the races on Sunday.  The weather held out (thankfully) which made it a much more pleasant experience!  We were in good company (see the pics).  It was great to cheer on a car that we arrived in!  The noise of the GT cars was just infectious - the Bentley's especially.  If anyone is interested, Channel 4 will show the highlights at 6 o'clock this Sunday morning (one for the recorder!).

(Apologies for the quality of the pics as I only had my phone on me)

That sounds great, Dave. It hasn't inspired another mod or two to your Zed has it? ;)
2007 350Z - You'll get there when you get there, and that'll be fine. It's a better way to travel, and a much nicer way to live.
2004 Yaris 1.3 - It takes a little longer, but you'll get there when you get there, and that'll be fine. It's a better way to travel, and a much nicer way to live.

Got Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres fitted to the front wheels, to complete the set, sort of (the rears are MPS 4S's). First impressions are VERY favorable. The car is handling really well - much better than yesterday, when it had the original Bridgestones on. This isn't the placebo effect - it really is a great deal better. If anyone's half & half about this combination of tyres, please don't be - it works.

I'll repeat this post on the tyres thread, so interested people don't miss it.

Hmm, not really.  The Zed's on track were awesome but so far removed from the road version that spotting a copy-cat mod would be very difficult!  I'd settle for an aftermarket exhaust! :)

Yesterday I took the opportunity to give the car a good clean, prior to following my own advice (in Car Care) to put a protective wax coat on before this current clement weather recedes. I even cleaned the fuel filler just in case LESmo called round to check.

697B58AC-5716-49A5-BB60-4A45F51CC2D9.jpeg

Today I set about removing some annoying scratches on or around the boot lip, presumably caused by my ring, watch strap or fingers when using the boot, which I do every day. They were not deep - couldnt feel them with a finger tip or finger nail, but they were there if you knew where to look!!

I began the polishing process, after using some detailer, with the Flex polisher and a 1 1/2 inch backing plate. The pad was a Flex 2 inch soft polish wth 3M Yellow (medium grade) cutting fluid. All but one of the scratches went after 4 passes.

E25724DD-5678-4183-8D3A-12DF6B0D5DE0.jpeg

To tackle the remaining one I used a 1 inch plate with a Flex Violet 1 1/2 inch pad and still wth the medium grade cutting fluid. This is about as harsh as I would get with Zed paint.

6BAE0053-CAB4-4619-9415-6C97EBFC78FB.jpeg

The scratch went in 4 passes. As usual, the whole of the rear was covered in polish splatter, so I detailed and waxed it. I did the roof as well, because it was there.

3D1926C0-53E8-4167-8A25-447CE7C3EC4D.jpeg

The results were pleasing to the eye. Just a few more panels to do now before we lose the good weather.

Machine DA polishers are not cheap, but they can cure little issues such as this so, so much easier than you can by hand.
