Despite the expertise there, I'm amazed at how industrious some of you were. On the basis of my usual working methods and timings by the time I'd got mine in the air and the wheels off, then admired the handiwork and cleaned a bit of muck off, it would be the end of the day and there wouldn't be time to do one brake, for example, never mind all four. Therefore I take my hat off to many of you.

Another observation is that there is some very good looking machinery on show there. That might include John's legs too . . .

2007 350Z - You'll get there when you get there, and that'll be fine. It's a better way to travel, and a much nicer way to live.
2004 Yaris 1.3 - It takes a little longer, but you'll get there when you get there, and that'll be fine. It's a better way to travel, and a much nicer way to live.

It's so much quicker when you can put the car at whatever height you want and have lots of lovely tools and helpful advice!

Oh, and I meant to say before, Johns 350Z looked fantastic.  I don't think I've ever seen it look so good - even the first time I say it many years ago! :notworthy:

Les, please may I add my thanks to the list above. To yourself and Caz for the organisation and hosting, including the food, to the college guys (how helpful was Martin who voluntarily stayed with us all day!) and to the College for allowing the event to take place. You have hit on a top recipe at a top venue.

For once I was able to spend time working on my own car. The scissor lift meant I could get the alloys prepped for the winter without having to jack each corner of the car -  a great time saver for me as my (new) drive has a pronounced incline on it and is not really suitable for the task.

Finally, a thanks to all who attended for their support, their company and for the chance to see their cars and share their stories.

This was a tremendous day, encapsulating everything an OC should be about.

Les, my thanks again,

Jeff.

One of the many interesting things I learnt yesterday was that Blueprint (patent) parts are made to a standard that meets or exceeds standard Nissan parts.  I noticed a year or so ago that they have started making 370Z specific parts, so food for thought...

Here's another nugget for you...

Q) Why is it that when you buy a nut and bolt combo they often have a different head size?

A) Because you can use 2 different spanners in your set to tighten them up.  If they were the same size you would need to identical size spanners

I love clever thinking like that! :)

The availability of the lifts made so many jobs that much easier, especially for a cranky older person like myself. So nice to move the car up and down when working on it, and it even allowed me to stick my head easily in my driver's side footwell and fix my loose dash panel and discover exactly where my fuses are!

p.s. Didn't get a picture of my relative working on his car. Possibly a short time window..... :P

Apologies for the delay in writing this but a busy rest of the weekend...

Just want to say a huge   :thankyou:  to Lez and Cazza for organising this weekend.  Whilst I could only stay for a couple of hours in the morning due to family commitments in the afternoon, I had a great time meeting you all and giving my Zed a couple of hours of TLC that I can rarely find the time for.  I would have happily stayed for the rest of the day enjoying the company, location and food spread!  I was also perilously close to popping my cherry on machine polishing (thanks for the offer Les) which I was gutted I couldn't stay for.  Also, thanks must go out to Martin and Martyn who made the day run so smoothly (well, until I disappeared anyway, who knows what happened afterwards!).  Together with Les, it was obvious how much effort they had all put in.  Simply fantastic.  :D

Staying on the theme of thanks, I want to say thanks for making me feel so welcome at my first nissansportz meet for many years (I think the last one I went to was the Marshalls centenary in 2009?).  Looking forward to getting to some other meets and of course, should Les and Cazza be kind enough to organise the workshop day again - I'll be there!  Took a few pics to add to the collection...

Dave

Thanks for the great write up and pictures Dave and also for coming along, it was great to meet you after all these years.  We will be returning next year for another workshop day in September, details will follow later in the year when we open interest threads.  And I am more than happy to go through machine polishing and we can find a donor car for you to play with first.

Evening Les.  It was great to meet you and Cazza too.  Always nice to put faces to names.  :D

Great to hear that you plan on hosting another event next year - I'll keep a keen eye out for that! :)  Thanks also for the kind offer to go through machine polishing and on a doner car too!  Maybe at another event if I don't take the plunge and attack my old Civic first?!?  It has some of the dreaded fade that only red cars can get.  T-cut and polish don't help :(

Les, when the pictures and reports thread gets to post 33, you've probably got the event right. Well done.
