Now that you've posted those ...the trophy's taken its place on the kitchen shelf...

It must be said that Seb was very unlucky not to win. Pole position turned out to be vital on that track. After 32 gruelling laps, he finished a mere 0.3 seconds behind me (although I slowed a bit when I saw the chequered flag being waved). Had he not been given a small penalty for accidentally barging me a few times I'd have struggled to keep him in his place. I'm glad I made a big song & dance about his last bit of barging (I writhed and wriggled around in the kart, like I was hurt!!), because I think it encouraged the Track Marshalls to slow him down for a few seconds, giving me some much needed breathing space. Cheating or acceptable gamesmanship? You decide!

The track is exceedingly hard for passing and after that incident I worked out how to block him (legally) at the two most vulnerable points on the track. For the last 6 laps or so, I was praying really hard for that chequered flag (when you're driving, the timing screen gives you a bit of information, but you have no idea how much racetime is left). Steve also had a very creditable podium place, but I'm glad I nailed him because of the way he boasted beforehand

Anyway - it was fun. Maybe we could do a big outdoor track next time?

Is Seb claiming you brake-tested him?

2007 350Z (my second Zed) - When you give up driving, you’re not going to look back wistfully on the car you owned with the nicest dashboard top or speaker grilles. You’re going to remember a car for its excitement and how it made you feel.
2011 Yaris 1.33 (my third Yaris) - With an extra 30cc and an extra gear it's become the S-Class of small cars.  Far less pretentious though.

It was indeed a glorious victory, and I was more than happy in my humble 3rd place on the podium when surrounded by such high standards if talent :D

(Although I'm looking forward to the rematch when I'll kick your Rs.. :angry2: )

That's a very interesting read Geoff.  I heard some of that on the day but not all.  Good tactics I would say - there was a strict no bumping policy and Seb was being naughty.  In fact, I think I might have some video footage....

Yes, by all means lets do an outdoor one next time.  Naz was saying there's one in MK no far from that one but if anyone wants to suggest or recommend one then that would be great.  We can do more than one a year you.  There are no hard and fast rules :)

That's not me in the video - I'm sure I was kart 16 - but it may well have been Seb doing the dirty stuff!

I may investigate the pricing of Rye House Speedway Karting, Hoddesdon, Herts (where Lewis Hamilton learned his trade). It's a good track and in the summer, if it's not raining, it would be a right blast for us.
