Hi Everyone ... purely as an fyi, Colin is off to the Ring in November for a well earned rest! Throughout the year there have been many people that we've met/trained etc. who have indicated an interest on joining Colin on a Ring trip for pleasure and/or guidance. 2006 has been so busy for us that Colin hasn't had a chance to focus on getting to one of his favourite places for his annual pleasure trip until now. So, just in case anyone within the Club would have any interest in this, I've posted below the contents of the letter we sent out to those we know.

Apologies for the length but it contains everything you need to know.

"After a very busy and I’m pleased to say, successful Spring/Summer, I am now in a position to confirm the ‘Ring’ trip that I planned to make this year. Due to my prior business commitments the dates I am going to be at the ‘Ring’ are in November.

The ‘Ring’ is open for 2½ continuous days over the period of Saturday 18 – Monday 20 November. The Saturday & Sunday are 09:00 -17:00 and the Monday is 13:00 – 16:00. I am choosing to arrive on the Friday evening, departing on the Monday morning for home. I hope that this will give me the best opportunity to drive on the ‘Ring’ over the weekend bearing in mind the potential weather conditions and incidents that do happen there. Otherwise many interesting hours will be spent enjoying the Tiergarten and surrounding areas to Nurburg!

If you would like to join me at any point over the weekend you are more than welcome to do so. My itinerary is detailed below for your information. Jo is happy to make any bookings for you but these will be charged (Eurotunnel/Hotel) to your credit cards. Please call Jo in the office on 01234 757633 if you would like her to do this for you.

The only additional charge that I will make is if you would like me to accompany you in your car for some of your laps on the ‘Ring’ acting as your guide. I trust you understand that this is to cover my time and knowledge. Otherwise I might find myself for the 2 days continuously in other peoples cars, rather than my own, and not having any quiet time for myself! I believe this charge is not unreasonable.

According to the website the current cost of an 8 lap pass is €108. Each lap can take between 10- 15 minutes to drive, dependent on the skill and speed of the driver. I therefore propose to charge £10 per lap for my in car guidance of this famous circuit. If on the weekend for whatever reason I am not able to provide you with this guidance i.e. circuit closure, extreme weather etc. I will refund the appropriate monies to you on our return.

If you are planning to join me and would like to book guided laps during the Saturday and/or Sunday, please give Jo a call to arrange payment.

Nooooooooooo!! :( :?: :(

Stop putting temptation in my path. I'm trying to be a good boy. :P :P I'm trying to sort out dates to do the Marc Duez trip and suddenly there's the chance to have "Uncle Colin" show us round the 'ring.

Extremely tempted. :P

I will be up for a visit there, as soon as I can make it. Although I would prefer to go when its not winter. My car prefers warmer tarmac. :(
