Does Alford still rent out their little sprint track :D , was thinking that it might be a laugh to rent it out for an hour and have a play with the Zeds (and Georges Skyline of course!) :D It would be getting into the better weather of course. It could be a laugh and a good little meet. More original than McDonalds car park!

I am sure it does. Being a charity organisation they are always looking for a bit of money to keep going.

I was a rediculously small amount. I'll try and find out and then let you know. Probably not much point in organising something for another few months. Maybe April time. Although today is spot on!

Ok, generally up for hire from 10-11 weekdays but they will open the track at other times if we want.

Two snags in my plan

1 - the £5m liability insurance required when renting the track. Anyone an insurance dude who could help us out?

2 - you need to obtain an entertainments licence from Aberdeenshire council. Not sure how difficult this is but they will help.

There are some other clauses but I am willing to undertake these if we can sort out the items above.

Good news is it's £30 an hour +vat for use of the track. We could hire for an hour or maybe two if numbers permit and have a blast.

If I can get a plan for the insurance in place then I will find out about the licence!

Stew,

Count me in :?:

Got a mate in Aberdeen who has a hotel / pub / function room.

If you find that the council are not playing ball then give me a shout as I am sure that he will have a few contacts regarding the issue of "entertainment Licence"

Like the sound of this, didn't even know Alford had such a place but if I'm not working i'll be there

I'm away for a week mid-April but around after that, and it's my 30th Birthday at the end of the month so would be a fun day out for that ;)

It's a small figuire of eight track. It's used for sprinting. My thoughts were just to book it for an hour or two and each have a few laps for a laugh!

Still need to sort out the £5m insurance. No idea where to even start with this!

Other clubs rent it out during the year and blast around the track. I have witnessed a Pug one. They must have something in place. you could contact them.

Good suggestion. I'm sure it wouldn't be too expensive to get the insurance. Just don't know where to start looking for it!

Stew,

Just did a search for Pug clubs at Alford and came up with this... :bounce:

Alford Track Day, 10th April - PugScotland

You need to register to read it but sure they'll be helpful if you ask about the insurance, unless you want me to ask but you seem to be doing such a good job of organising so far

Let us know how you get on :notworthy:

That post was from 2005! I still sent a guy a PM about it though. I've met Findlay that used to organise the day. I just have to do some brain racking to remember who introduced us!

In fact I may have an idea!
