Thanks for your comments Les. I know what you mean about the BMW - they can be high maintenance at a very young age of three or four years. I like the Z's quirky analogue (Casio calculator) interior, relative technical simplicity and the fact it's rare and looks different. A mate of mine said when looking at it described it as being "on the slightly discrete side of lairy". Never considered a two seater before, simply because they've never appealed (MX-5s etc etc - too small) but the Z has really got under my skin. I think the fact it's big n chunky by comparison appeals.
I had a BMW 123d between the two Zeds and it was a utter nightmare to own, it should have been great - but I hated it. In the dealer 13 times in 3 years and I hated the conditional servicing always something on the dash needing to be done.
But in the end you need to do what is right for you. I had Hondas - and they were Bullet proof prior to the Zeds, but in all honesty even as a daily driver the Zed was no problem, and gets a lot more attention than the cars everyone see's all the time. But in the end it will be down to what you feel. I know cars will come and go but the Zed will always stay with me.
I know this my Zeds have never spent a single night in a dealer they have always gone in and come out. You can change the Air filters in seconds (and I am not mechanical) and you can change parts without having to register the serial numbers or risk throwing a error. But they are a Analogue Car in the Digital World.
I will do, some time later today.
I'll admit that the potential purchase of the Nismo is driven by the heart, over the head. My three other options are very different (BMW 340i, Leon Cupra, Golf R) and are probably driven 50/50 by heart and head. I don't need 4/5 seats (it's weekend/hobby interest car) but I guess the Nissan is going into the unknown with such a beast as this. Historically, I'm very much VAG/ BMW.
I forgot all about the traction control, I've reset the ECU and will try turning the traction control off to see if that makes a difference, the cars at the panel beaters for the next few days having the back panel repaired after a woman clipped the side of me, thanks for the suggestions, cheers
