  2. No I've not touched the exhaust - this little b****** seems to have taken a liking to my roof and didn't seem too bothered when I knocked on the window. That soon changed...

  3. Pulled alongside me at the traffic lights in Exeter.... A yellow, Renault (Megane?) RS on a 64-plate. Wheel looked brand new. Bit of a cheek I thought...

  4. Found out today that the little black dots that are round the edges of my windscreen are called "frits" and that those in the large area behind the interior mirror are called the "third visor frits". Just thought I'd share!

  5. I saw a youtube video where a 370 had the illuminated door sills and after a quick google I found that the parts can be ordered and fitted by Nissan UK. So I decided to get a pair for my car and had these fitted last week at Nissan Stourbridge. I admit it was a bit of a vanity purchase but overall I am really pleased with how they look, especially when it's dark.

  6. I know you won't believe me as I'm having a job convincing myself as I type, but a lot of the dirt you can see in that pic is actually on the window not the car. It won't come as any surprise to learn I hate cleaning windows too... And yes it did leave muddy paw prints and a load of fur all over the roof and windscreen and bonnet. I'll leave it on there for you all to see next time we meet up...

  7. I am facing the possibility of looking for a closer place to take the Zed next February, having been with Norton Way since the car was bought from them new. I don't know anything about Desira in Norwich - I think there were people on here when we had 350's who used them. But I have been researching and there is a local place in Attleborough who do a lot of work on Race Cars and does Service & MOT's so I may well be trying them for the Zed and the Mini, to be fair they won't be much cheaper than Norton Way, but add to that a 3 hour round trip and 150 miles in possible bad weather. So at the moment that's my possible plan, so switching to a independent place. As the car gets older I will probably need a place that will do all types of work. I have been so far waiting 7 months for an update on a new steering wheel - so I may be falling out of love a little bit with my dealer.

  8. As you may know, I have been playing with in car PCs and Android tablets for quite a while now. They've never quite worked out for me because the final integration with the car wasn't quite there. Head units seemed to have caught up with what I was trying to achieve recently so I decided to invest in a cheap-ish Android one and I fitted it last weekend. I'll go into detail about the ins and outs / pros and cons of the unit and how I fit it, but for now here are a few pics in the mean time: It has a 10.1" screen and I think these pictures make it look more 'stuck on' than it does when you're actually in the car. I've removed the original head unit but I need to keep the old face plate for a while because I still need the A/C controls. That will hopefully change at some point. It's early days and still in the 'proof of concept' stage. There are quite a few things I need to iron out, but so far, pretty good.

  9. I can highly recommend Abbey Motorsport in Oxted, Surrey. They carried out a P1 service on mine back in February while I waited, or they do have a couple of loan cars .

  14. My dealer alerted me to this when mine first expired. Since then I carry a generic can version which will work on any car. I know t's not nice stuff and the chances of it being useful are a bit slim but for the sake of a few quid it might just get you out of trouble when you really need it. Yes, I have the spare wheel kit. I think there are a few wheels which will fit but, as Les says, it's the brake clearance that's the issue (find one with the correct stud pattern and rolling radius isn't that hard). The wheel fits in the boot and the Bose base fits in the wheel. You need to remove some of the additional under-floor packing to allow it to fit. Edit: the biggest problem will be housing the road wheel (especially the rear) in the car. I have a bag to store the road wheel in to save the car getting dirty. Worst case scenario you have the leave the wheel under a hedge and hope no one finds it before you return to pick it up!

  15. The ups and downs of moving house! Remember folks - it will be worth it. And all the pain will be soon forgotten when you get the keys to the new place I agree about the Juke. Much more room than the old one I can tell you. I use a HippoBag to line the inside of Sarah's. It has been to the waste disposal site many, many times - both pre and post our move. Keep positive. You will get there and it will be great!

  16. One thing I have found in the past few months is: 1. How much stuff you accumulate over nearly 20 years in the same house. 2. Whatever you think you are going to do with it, you are never going to use a whole floor of old Carpet - so putting it in the loft is a bad idea especially when you are 20 years on and you are trying to remove it on your own. So in the past few weeks, we had put in an offer on a new place in Attleborough, look towards Norwich on the A11 and you will find it. We had sold our home, only to find we had sold it to a Ghost - who then wasn't available to take any calls or emails form the Estate agent, so after 2 weeks of that nonsense we sold it again. Both times in 24 hours of going on the market - the market is madness at the moment. Finally yesterday I got a call from our Solicitors (aka Piggy Bank) and they asked if I wanted to do the searches - I asked if something had happened and they informed me they have received instruction from the Attleborough Estate Agents, so we are go - we got the letter this morning. Plus our buyers have moved from the South and have been renting for a few years up the road - so again its all perfect, this time they really seem keen. Today I have spent all day taking out the carpet from the loft (in a Town house that's the 4th Floor) and putting it into the Tardis that is the Juke, I cannot believe how much stuff I fitted in it for the skip runs, its has been brilliant. There is a fine art to Skip runs, you need to be confident and quick so as not to get the attention too much of the operatives - you can then pretty much get away with anything. As we have pretty much everything now boxed in a storage unit up the road, we are running out of things to do now until the process moves along a bit more. We have our survey during the first week in July (Surveyors are now running 1 month plus - one quoted me Mid August and another £980 for a home buyer survey - surprisingly I took neither) The Zed is looking forward to its new home and space for about 6 cars on the drive. Sure there will be a few blips between now and the end, but certainly amazing how fast some bits happen after waiting 3 weeks.

  17. Well after a bit of a hiatus from car ownership, I’ve got myself a new car. Me and the missus have been car sharing since I sold the Z in October of last year. Luckily, we work at the same place so hasn’t caused to much of an issue having 1 car for a household. Over time though, the itch got stronger and stronger. She has a BMW 120d and since driving that on a daily, the comfort and ease of use felt great, especially having an automatic for city driving and traffic. Now the 120 with the xdrive isn’t exactly a slouch and is pretty nippy for normal everyday driving. But I just wanted something with a bit more ooompf and soul. I ended up bringing home a lovely alpine white BMW 140i shadow edition 😁 The basic powerful engine and rear wheel drive formula is still there but it’s such a different beast! More low down power than the Z and quite noticeably a more twitchy back end too. However what both the Z and the 140 have in common is the massive grin on my face when I brought it home for the first time! Makes me confident that I made the right choice with the 140i.

  20. A good indie specialist is worth his weight in gold to us enthusiasts. When I decided to go "outside the box" and buy my Nismo back in February, I knew nothing about the car or any indie support that might be out there. I actually wouldn't have bought it if I hadn't found a recommended specialist - I really didn't want to go main dealer for various reasons. After some research I found Abbey who are just 12 miles from me - so, it was all systems go from there!

  21. Hi Guys, I am sure this has been asked before but can't find the thread. Feel free to point me in the right direction.. however.. my car is due a service, only done 8k miles since new have it booked in with Nissan West on Friday but they haven't given me a price and they also don't inspire confidence . So, can anyone recommend a place in or near London for a service. I feel like a specialist would be better, but happy to be educated. Sent from my SM-G988B using Tapatalk

  23. Hi (and welcome!) It worked fine, but I ended up buying another Android HU with a larger screen and mounting it in portrait in the console. I made a gadget to do the HVAC too. There's a little on it here. To my shame, I've not finished reworking the dash around the screen so it doesn't look great still, but it all works really well

  28. Lotus! If you haven't seen it already, have a look at the new Emira below and here for more info. It looks a bit like a Ferrari directy from the front but there are quite a few design influences from the Evija Hypercar. In short, I love it, I think it looks stunning from every angle and the interior is a massive step forward too. And all from about £60k, this really could be the promised return of Lotus. Tempted?

  44. I had mine flagged on a service - so bought it online and have changed it a couple of times just so it didn't get flagged on the service advisories, but I would never hopefully use it, with the amount of punctures I had in a few years I would have had loads of chances. But I still carry it. And its still there if needed.
