  1. Got my car back from Litchfield yesterday with a spangly new intercooler from a hardly used 2019 GTR (sadly they didn't have any of the upgrades in stock and I didn't want to wait with the CAT day fast approaching). A great deal by Neil at Litchfield and not having spent a fortune, still leaves me the option to upgrade to a higher stage including new intercooler at that point. So, to celebrate I've just spent 3 odd hours cleaning her. Started with Espuma wheel cleaner, then a good hose down and wash with Simoniz Car Wash, microfibre and thorough dry and then gave it the CPS Liquid Gold t

  2. Today I continued to put together a small 'refresh' package for mine, which will happen during May when it's hopefully warmer and I can spend a whole blokey day doing stuff to the car. It's only bits and bobs, plus some professional input for two tasks: * Application of a heavy tint to the rear window - Tint Shack, Horley, Surrey (visited today) * Roof wrapped in either gloss or matt black - Blue Lizard Signs, Gatwick, West Sussex (visited today) * A proper paint decontamination and detail, plus wheels off and cleaned * Touch in of a few minor stone chips to the front end -

  4. Sorry for the outage this afternoon, we had a bit of a glitch which we dealt with as quickly as we could. Thank you for your patience and also thanks to the brilliant Blobbish and PaulW We’d be lost without you both.

  5. I seem to be on a spending frenzy!! 15% off when you buy 4 Bridgestone tyres at Halfords so I've just put a new set of Potenza on for £440 fitted which I thought was reasonable. - The rears were very low and needed doing and the fronts were a budget tyre that were on it when I got it so great to have an excuse to change - and I can go even faster round corners now!

Shinichiro Irie, Program Designer Director of Z Proto In our ongoing series, The Essence of Z-ness, we first heard from Chief Product Specialist Hiroshi Tamura on what Z-ness means to him and the legacy of Z around the world. In this second installment, we talk with Shinichiro Irie, the Program Design Director of the Z Proto, to ask him what he thought were the qualities that defined the Z Proto, what to look forward to with the next Z and to give insight into what exactly went into the thought process of the Z styling, from pen and paper to reality. 10. Hi All, After months of searching and some patience I finally got myself a 350z. 08 HR in Twilight Grey. Absolutely loving it so far. A few of minor issues I've listed so far include; rattling (almost a rubbing sound) transmission/clunking when changing gear at low speeds or harshly, tailgate button doesn't work, and sadly I had no choice but to hit a rock last night on it's first run so denting the plastic under tray at the front (in-line with brake pedal). Here's some snaps after my first ever attempt at waxing a car (clay bar to be used in a few months, going to practice with

  12. OK. Some initial diagnosis from Litchfield gives me some hope. They are going to get the front end off next week to confirm but it looks like the intercooler has deteriorated and hsa some cracks in it that under hard acceleration starve the engine and whoomph, she goes into 'help take me home mode'. I'll know for certain next week but the cost of a new (I will of course consider upgrading it haha) intercooler is a damn sight better than a new transmission!! Also, the CAT driver day is back on as I've been assured I'll have her back before then (phew!)

  14. After several months of relative neglect - or at least a relative lack of attention (and nearly a sale until I pulled out after realising the difficulty of finding something that nourished the soul like the Zed) - I at last broke out the polish and the glaze, a little later than in previous years. I had to get my skates on slightly, as I'd also arranged to have four new tyres fitted early next week and I'm not at home much before then. As I've no wish to have a mobile tyre fitter removing and refitting the wheels - and that I would like to wire-brush and grease the brake pipes and clean

  15. Today, I changed the plugs on mine, at 32,000 miles I know it’s maybe a bit premature at that mileage, but I discovered you don’t have to disconnect the throttle bodies at all, just the 4 Allen screws, which according to the Nissan manual you should unscrew and screw in using a cross pattern which I did, I found I had plenty room by simply moving them without unplugging them or disconnecting the coolant pipes, just had to move a couple of breather pipes and i unbolted the fuel damper and carefully swivelled it round to let me into plug 1. I also found the plenum side of the throttle bodies had

I just wanted to say that I'm glad you're on the 'up' and that you're one of those that I meet - you gave me a lot of assistance in my Z research prior to purchasing.

  19. the cost of this (£35) also included a photo. These are the best 2 out of the 14 they took!, all downloadable at no extra cost (the 'spotted' GTR is in the background of the first shot). We also got given a goody bag, which included 2 different "I've driven Brands Hatch" window stickers. So all in all, a good day yesterday. Now, do I do it again?...

  20. Exchanged a wave and thumbs up this afternoon Wife thought it wierd and commented that she doubts BMW or Porsche drivers would do that and I said it's because Zeds are special. She replied that maybe only I wave because I'M "SPECIAL" [emoji38] Either way, I'd rather be "special" and happy inside than "normal" and aloof/boring Sent from my Redmi Note 7 using Tapatalk

  21. In almost all circumstances of this warning, the cause is the fob battery. As its voltage drops, the fob will intermittently lose connection with the car. If you put the fob in the fob receptacle (in front of your right knee when sitting in the driver's seat) the warning often goes away. Change fob battery for a reputable make CR2032. I've had this happen and checked the battery voltage on a multi-meter - it only needs to have dropped by fractions of a volt to start playing up. As stated on another recent thread, keep a couple of fresh fob batteries in one of the car storage are

  30. I bought it on eBay (from a US seller). I had a search set up and checked it daily and it took about 18 months before this one turned up. I was looking for anything from early 70's California with a reference to 'Z' or '240'. This one was genuinely the first one that ticked any boxes and was perfect! (my 240Z was originally from California and it's D.O.B. is 1971!!!)

  37. Thanks guys. I had always been so resilient but the current lockdown for whatever reason was one too many as most have struggled to a lesser or greater degree. The breakfast cereal of choice is Weetabix or a generic version. I have been literally only eating in the evening for years, but during the weeks off I was walking up to 120 miles a week, and listening to the pod casts on Norwich City and reading - less TV and certainly less watching the news I think helped. Its really it seems ok to say you are not OK - if anyone feels like that, don't worry - just take some time. We had

  40. I've ordered myself a display ticket for this event, and have received an order confirmation. As far as I can see, tickets are free, and EO would only require a meet up in the morning, to drive in together, so I'm happy to do that much! "DISPLAY VEHICLE TICKETS Display your car right at the heart of the event, among other like-minded individuals. This is a great opportunity to show off your pride and joy! Please note that if you are part of a club and you want to be placed next to each other, make sure you drive in together."

  44. I am sorry Les. I missed this completely earlier in the week. Sad to hear you’ve been under the weather. The upside is it’s made you sit back and get your ducks back in order. Life’s too short for long days at work. We don’t live to work, we may need money but as you know your health and Cazza are far more important. Take care Les and we look forward to seeing you both really soon. I think the normality that is hopefully round the corner will help too xx

  45. Hi Les. Sorry to hear things got bad for you but really pleased that you listened to your body, made some adjustments and are seeing the benefits. I learnt quite early on in my career that busting a gut is rarely rewarded so I flex when I need to but I don't sell my soul to work. Others will no doubt think different to that approach but if I stopped working tomorrow, the company I work for would just bring someone else in and service would be resumed (just a different name in a spreadsheet)! Anyway, keep up the soul searching since you only get one shot at this game so make it a good one

  46. Just before I went off I had creeped back to over 100 hours a week and while I can go back to 24 hour races and work when that was normal I was mid 30's - now I am 50 - my body was telling me off and I really had to listen too it. I also started to wonder what the point really was, in truth I suppose you hope the planet stops spinning as soon as you cannot do the hours, but it didn't - it trundled along quite happily without me, and the fact that you are remembered by a flag being lowered for 24 hours in the front of the building doesn't make it any more desirable. If I had done it earlier i

  47. Hi Les I think working more than 40 hours a week for long periods of time is not good for the work / life balance especially as you get closer to retirement. As a contractor I have worked silly hours for the last 25 years and have just recently had a 40 hour limit imposed. Initially I was against this but am now finding more time to play golf or just go for a walk or just drive the GTR to starbucks during the week on what was work time. Cutting the hours is definitely a good thing!
