Bardolphs
Advice if possible. My wife spends a lot of time on the phone while on the road. She's noticed that people she's calling are having trouble hearing her, (even at standstill). I've turned up the microphone level in the settings, though no real improvement. Not going to have the chance to make any more changes before the weekend, though any help or advice appreciated. Anyone know where the mic. is located for a start ? Thanks.
Paul_S
I think the mic is mounted in the lights module in the headlining. If you look at the pic below (from my auto-dimming mirror mod) I think the mic is the black object at the top just left of centre. Look for the slots when the cover is on. I hope that helps some. andy.j
I'm sure it doesn't help any, but mine is rubbish too. I have to really shout, and even then, most of the time people can't understand me. I took it back to my local dealer who said there is nothing wrong with it... Datsun_Zed
I had this problem too, I messed about with the mic settings and then did the standard shouting. Then one night while my missus was trying to hear me she came out with an inspired statement, "I can't hear you because you're shouting!!" I have now reverted to speaking in a normal voice and at an almost stupidly quiet level and all is well, andthe unlucky souls on the other end on the phone can once more hear my inane drivel and complaints about the Aberdeen traffic. I haven't tried this at 70mph yet, but certainly round the town just very normal talking seems to work, but shouting like a nutter does not. I will say though, that the 350Z (like quite alot of things) worked perfectly with the phone. DZ

Chilli Red
Obviously a Nissan general problem. The Qashqai is regularly rubbish, sometimes OK, but more often then not totally rubbish. Difficult to speak quietly when someone says they can't hear you. Natural reaction is to SHOUT! Paul_S
It's hard to speak quietly with the road noise! I haven't really used the phone that much (I don't like talking on the phone and driving) but I'll have to experiment I think Quote 'A standard limited edition Yellow 370Z* with a plethora of minor bespoke mods' *one of 40 don't you know! Mart Midlifecrisis
Hi, I've got exactly the same problem as you. I typically spend 4 hours a day in the car and need to use the phone for around 40% of that time so it's a real pain in the a*** for me. My problem is that the mic just seems to 'drop' out every 3 or 4 secounds, one minute the caller can hear me ok, the next it just drops out - sooooooo annoying. It work fine if I'm stationary, but once I'm anything over 20 mph it's unuseable. It's so bad that I've just gone back to using a wired headset which is damm annoying when every other aspect of the car kit is very good. I asked Nissan about it when I put the car in for service recently and they claim they tested it and couldn't replicate the fault (How convenient). My next step is to go to a specialist Auto electrician to see if they can put a better mic in - worth a try? Cheers Martin
Paul_S
Definitely worth a try I would say - assuming the problem is the mic and not some noise-cancelling gizmo. Also, relocating the mic could be of benefit. I know with the 350Z some people moved the mic nearer the driver. I have good reception according to the display. And yet the people on the call keep saying I am cutting out as though losing reception or muting mic. For info, my phone paired is an iphone4 just in case that is a similarity with other folks having the issue. I have also tried increasing and decreasing the mic volume to see if it helps but no help. B.o.B
I always ring my mum from the car and she is always saying she cant hear me and then telling me not to shout but speak normally when I raise my voice. I should add she's 93 and deaf and often cant hear me on the house phone either so in my case its probably not the car at all. I dont recall anyone else complaining unless reception goes due to no signal.
Fuku Fuku
It's been widely acknowledged since the 350Z was launched that the built in bluetooth was rubbish. Sounds like things have failed to move on with the 370. Buy a Parrot is my advice.

l3uster
This is definitely a Nissan wide problem. I have both an iPhone and BB and neither work well, it's not the phone's it the system! Looks like we're starting to hear the same ol' Nissan story "Never heard of that before". It's a shame, the sound system in the car is pretty good for a factory fit. I've tried all sorts of setting changes to no great avail.....A Parrot seems like the solution, but I don't really want to clutter my dash with the additional kit! Quote Regards, Buster..... c4rov
I'm really p***ed off with this now. I can hear perfectly but whoever I am on the phone with says I am continually cutting out as though no reception. I have full reception at times and can hear them perfectly! I have used the same iphone4 as I did in my 6 year old X5 on it's older Bluetooth system with zero problems at all. What the he'll is causing this.... I use the phone a lot in the car and this is pathetic. Sorry about the rant but it is a joke. I wonder if it is a noise cancelling issue on the microphone as the 370z is not the quietest of cabins? I really don't want to use a parrot or other aftermarket system as all the other features integrate well on the system such as phone book etc. Totally flummoxed.
