Today I cleaned all of the vinyl and rubber trim in the boot with Auto-Glym Vinyl and Rubber spray, vacuumed the whole car and checked that the fuel filler was spotless - you never now when LESmo will check. Tomorrow I will give the engine bay its Spring wash and protection.

On a (slightly) more serious note, the Gyeon Q2M water spot remover I got recently works brilliantly on the black plastic trim either side of the boot and engine compartments - notoriously difficult bits to keep black.

Happy weekend, folks!

Just put a couple of nice cool white LED bulbs in the map lamps, to replace the horrible yellow ones and to match the white LED trunk light I did a couple of weeks ago. We're all white now :)

In case you're interested, these are the ones I got - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/201729996084?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&var=501618088701&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

They emit about the same amount of light as the existing map lamps, but they're brighter than the useless OEM boot light.

Fixed that for you :P

Today the first service was completed as Fred IV is one tomorrow. No parts required. Happy Birthday to Fred.

I know there are widely contrasting opinions on dealer versus non-dealer services, but the choice is down to the individual, isn't it? My trusted local garage charged me the grand total of £58 including VAT as I had provided the oil and filter, courtesy of Opie. I have done just under 5700 miles in the year.

well took the opportunity to start fitting a pair of Injen short rams over the weekend

post-8728-0-66675500-1492540144_thumb.jpg

Followed by the next step fitting of a Stillen exhaust

post-8728-0-76583300-1492540196_thumb.jpg

Which then naturally leads to a remap...... where is the best place to go for this ?

How far can it be taken with keeping everything else standard and not putting too much strain on the auto transmission etc

Either Horsham Developments or Abbey Motorsport will be able to help you out with the remap :)

  • 2 weeks later...

Today I took the front alloys off (individually) for their pre-season clean. Normal wash first, then copious amounts of Bilberry Juice and finally Rimwax sealant. The OSF needed some tar deposits removing from the inside before the sealant, so I used BH Panel Cleaner. This had 2 effects; the alloy was spotless and I was on a chemical high for 20 minutes. Win,win!

I also took the opportunity to clean the calipers and wheel arch linings (you can't trust anybody who has dirty wheel arches, you know).

There is a tiny scuff on the edge of the NSF but that can wait - it doesn't merit a refurb yet.

Weather forecast is poor here tomorrow, so I guess that's it for this weekend.

Hope the guys going to Duxford didn't freeze today!

I fitted some bargainous illuminated kick plates over the weekend (between showers!). I think I've had these since Jan, I'm pretty sure they were delivered before the car was collected so high time I fitted them.

No pics yet as it was bright and they didn't look too 'illuminated'

I fitted mine a couple of weeks ago but as many photos and instructions didn't post any pics. I used a bit of 10 mm poly pipe push thru tape the lead on and pull back, worked a treat

Two pipes from the compressor to condenser were leaking, main dealer only parts as no aftermarket parts are available so not cheap, £600 all in.

It`s a bit of a lottery for garages round here and there are no independent specialists so choice is limited.

I'd look at amayama. I used these to get a headlight and they were much cheaper even taking into account the import tax

Too late - he's already having it done, but it might be useful for others - worth a try.

At the moment it suits my needs as I`m working 6 days a week and just don`t have the time, but it`s useful info for future reference though ;)
